Disagree. Of course there was evidence - her testimony is evidence. If it wasn't for her mental state he'd be up again next year. As it stands, I believe they could refile charges at any point.

Testimony / eye witness is the weakest evidence there is in a court of law. Peoples memories are not reliable or dependable at all. No 'good' evidence would be more correct.

Good post. I disagree. I don't believe you can just say someone did something and then lock them up. I believe society must have a higher burden of proof than this.

In a lot of cases like this, supporting evidence is hard to comeby. I have a hard time believing she's made this up and subsequently put herself through all this. His statements surrounding why he was there don't put him in a good light.

In my personal opinion, having some experience in how the DPP approaches such things, there was more than enough to proceed to trial. I thought it was a better case than the Hayne prosecution.

It probably won't be refiled but I wouldn't rule it out.

of the terms THEY use:
So according to the "left" (at least on this forum) any person who disagrees with them on the
AGW, abortion or experimental injections is by default "extreme right winger, cooker etc." .

Also, ANY person THEY classify as the "left" is by default a good, or at least not evil person.
With this "newspeak" they are forced to lie, or at least to rewrite the history.
E.g. Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot (the people that killed millions of people) because they are on the "left", must be the good people?? So comrade Theophanous becomes a good person, because he is on the 'left"??

used in a different context, to generalise (according to Marx) - "left" are people who are against "capitalism", and the "right", people who prefer "capitalism". For any "reasonable person" this is not even tangentially related to the AGW, abortion, experimental injections, hate speech etc.
Even funnier, the "left" traditionally insisted on the free, uncensored speech, but now they just rewrite the history, they now use Orwell's books as the "Instruction Manuals" and not as a warning!
The "left" use the old dehumanising method for their "enemies" (e.g. the method used by another inconvenient lefty - Hitler, he proclaimed Jews "non human"), they make anyone who disagrees with them "non human", "basket of deplorables", "enemies of the people", they are made the worst people, so they must be "cancelled", if not sent to gulag, or even better eliminated, as suggested by at least one person on this forum.😥

I cant and wont defend people who constantly bellittle others who have a varying opinion on matters...
Just for an example.I consider that Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon had the American economy progressing well,inflation was low,unemployment amongst the black Americans was low, the border was secure and there wasnt any wars under his leadership...
In contrast the Biden admin is doing far more poorly on all fronts as it is atm..
So in my view,Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon was doing really well,I have stated many times,I would support any leader who does the right thing by the country and people of that nation...I wasnt impressed with Scomo but Iam quite prepared to support Albo if he does the right thing by Australia and the Australian people...I have learnt a long time ago that when we vote we make our own decision at the time on who has the best policies and interest for the country,not because grandad,dad or mum always voted x so do I...

I'm not going to speak for others who consider themselves progressive or of the left. This concept of the left being a homogeneous collective with no deviation isn't helpful or accurate. For the record I'm anti-communist and the people you refer to above, particularly Saloth Sar, are terrible people who deserve condemnation and scorn as do the many brutal right-wing dictators in South America and elsewhere. This shouldn't be a contest as to whether Papa Doc is better or worse than Ceausescu.

I've never suggested everyone who may be considered right of centre are inherently bad people. Nor would I say e everyone even moderately left are good people. There are things I believe in and that informs my perceptions.

Touching briefly on the abortion discussion on here. I personally thought most people on both sides of the issue were respectful and considerate.

I think the judicial system should stop these cases going further. I understand what you are stating but I can't see this case sticking even if he was found guilty.

He would appeal.

I expect the legal system to be above politics. I accept this isn't the case but I think we should take a step back and reflect on the role of the legal system.
