Only time I can remember getting myself out of the poo with the last bet was a horse called Whitlam at Morpethetville in one of the last races of the day ...I had liked it the night before and backed my convictions ...grog helped and dumped my last $50 on it knowing the Mrs was going to do an Alf Stewart and have my guts for garters .....got up at 16-1 ....became Roger Ramjet in an instant (hero of the nation lol)

After a lifetime of punting , winning on a 16/1 pops in the get out stakes is more of a miracle than anything else ( but still part of that day) but I was referring to those desperates who hail a cab to the dogs/trots/ casino to correct everything “that day”.
That rarely works and usually manifests a bad situation.
