Pine Inn counter lunch

R.I.P. the Pine Inn. I lived across the road from it, next to Dan Murphy.
It was packed out with tigers supporters and wests old boys. Lots of families use to go to J's Kitchen and enjoy the meals there more recently. The publicans were the Duggan family, they had to sell it to state gov for the metro like you mentioned. They own the old masonic lodge, 'avondale hotel' by burwood station as well.
Bath Arms is more of a pizzeria
And gambling den than a pub.
I read a really good article just
before about the history of Pine Inn/
Oriental hotel. So much history
150 years of history, check it out:

Amber lounge at Westfield was good also....sadly gone.

Pine was good after shops on Thursday nights....late 80s 90s......plenty of female talent competing for attention among footy talk.

Sydney is practically finished nightlife and social wise. Before the lockdowns it was making a little bit of a comeback......plenty of late opening cafe's and bars etc.

But activity is really depressing now.....Probably 50% pre lockdown.

And it's probably a quarter of what it was in the late 80s, 90s and 10 years ago.

Roads are deserted.

Used to be called Rubies, and the Freemasons pub was a really dingy dark old joint before they did it up a bit.
Clarkeys....the now pink Burwood hotel was my local, remember I was about 16 in the days before Tabs in Pubs and races on TV, it was a bit of a run to the local TAB and Id have my old mans mates bets to put on for them as well as my own...long time ago now
