I remember when Madden left Newcastle for the Wests Tigers Andrew Johns was not happy, why didn't Johns want him back now he's contract has expired?????

The money they paid for Hastings was rediculous, so was the signing. Hastings is a good footballer , but not a half. How do you know WT was asked to chip in anything, it's all in your imagination.
Sheens said a long time before hastings left,- Brooks is not going anywhere!
This is all rubbish, that's been covered more times then Pamela Anderson, give it a rest.

Coz he watch madden play first grade and said I’d rather brooks, and that really say something.

it is hard for the Hastings fanboys to accept, Brooks is at least here until end of 2023 and probably further but who knows.

What we do know is the club has chosen Brooks and AD in the halves over Hastings for 2023, we can judge the club end of 2023 whether they were right or not.

Personal opinion Newcastle will finish bottom 4, Hastings, ponga, gagai, Andre Ponga, O'Brien that is a clash of ego's right there that is heading for tears in 2023

Exactly. Brooks playing 14 games at 7 last year for 14 defeats. He showed some ok signs playing at 6 but he was diabolical at 7.

I think we need an improvement on what Hastings delivered too but my god I can't see how anyone can be satisfied with Luke Brooks performance as halfback

I got a good look at him at Commbank against the Dragons, and thought the same thing. He's no game breaker, but solid and does the job. He's a big body as well, so hopefully the addition of Klemmer, Paps and possibly Bateman see the pack play with a bit more aggression. I reckon he goes up a notch or 2 if he can dial up the agro a bit.

It's been reported many times that Newcastle were not willing to pay more than half of Brooks' WT salary, but I agree there is no point talking about it.

As we've seen with Sheens, once you're one of Sheens' favourites, you have a guaranteed spot until Sheens is gone. Brooks is here for the long term no matter how many spoons we collect.

It truly boggles the mind to understand how the Storm do it. They not only re-signed Pap, Munster and Hughes all on big long term contracts, but they also managed to re-sign the understudies on long term deals. Pezet and Faa'alago would be playing first grade at most clubs, and have their pathways blocked for the next 4 years, outside of injury/origin. I get signing a one years deal but both pezet and faa'alago just re-signed long term last week. Both would have been absolutely sensational signings for us, but they'd rather be backups for the next few years :(
