OFFICIAL 2023 Development Players

Feledy and Kautoga are the best prospects out of this group for mine. Feledy is quick, strong, agile and can certainly find the line. Will be interesting to see how he goes in Flegg and eventually Cup. at 180cm he's a little on the small side but as long as he can handle the physicality then I'm sure he'll be fine.

Kautoga has the skillset of the modern day back rower. can pass, kick, hit a hole and defends well. was filthy that he was given a three minute debut by Noddy when he certainly deserved more.

Ma'anaima has some work to do but all front rowers peak later on. providing he transitions to Cup and holds his own then that's all you can ask for. long term prospect.

Webster-Mansfield is a Campbelltown boy who loves the club, and it seems as if the club loves him equally in return. while he's very good in attack, defensively he needs some work and will get found out in Cup if he doesn't sort it out. application and work ethic is there but until he sorts himself defensively I don't think he's a first grader for the time being.

Article in this morning's FoxSports news are touting the following have big futures with the WT.
Maybe KR can elaborate if they are being looked at for development or upgrades?

TIGERS
Top 30 spots to fill: 3
Available development contracts: 3

JAHREAM BULA (fullback/outside back)
A product of the famous rugby league nursery Keebra Park State High, Jahream Bula was discovered by the Titans back in 2019 after just two games of rugby league. Before that he was a budding basketball player. He joined the Tigers this year and impressed the Tigers’ coaching staff with his efforts in Jersey Flegg.

ZANE CAMROUX (halfback)
The young playmaker is the son of former Tigers player and coach, Peter and has plenty of potential. He bounced between Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup last season and has been focusing on learning the art of game management. Camroux os a product of Holy Cross College is the former recipient of the school’s Athletes Cup — a prestigious award presented to their most outstanding contributor to sport.

BEN HOUSTON (prop)
A rugby union convert that’s fresh off a code switch to chase his NRL dream. Ben Houston is a product of St Joseph’s College and captained Randwick’s First XV earlier this year. At 196cm and 104kg, the 23-year-old cuts an imposing figure and is being looked after by new recruit David Klemmer.

TREY PENI (wing)
Another graduate of Keebra Park State High — in fact Trey Peni even captained the school’s rugby league team in 2020. The powerful and aggressive outside back is back for his second full-time pre-season having joined the NRL squad last summer too. Away from the field is a qualified barber after completing a course with a couple of teammates earlier this year.

TONY SUKKAR (prop)
A goalkicking prop that nailed a sideline conversion for Balmain in an SG Ball final earlier this year — and claimed the team’s ‘Best Forward’ award. Tony Sukkar has been in the Tigers’ system since 2020 when he played in the club’s Harold Matthews side and gets his first opportunity with the NRL squad.

All of them are on train-and-trials with first grade over pre-season.

Hopefully a few of them make it.

Bula is a strong ball runner, but needs to work on his skills (passing, kicking, communicating) if he wants a spine position
Camroux - can't see him stepping up to first grade. A solid lower league playmaker but noting exceptional about him at all and was invisible too many times last season
Houston, who knows. See how he goes in NSW Cup.
Peni's a decent wing prospect. Not super fast, a solid all rounder.
Sukkar is like a young Twal. Solid and unspectacular. Only he's also an excellent goal kicker (not sure if twally has ever thought about giving this a shot).

Houston is a smokey as Tim Sheens loves his approach, his ruggedness, and his size !! You don't get to play in and Captain the Randwick's First XV if you are an average player. The guy can play, not sure if he suited as a prop, but maybe a rangy, mobile back rower. I'm very keen to see how this adventure he is on into League pans out ??

Bula played basketball previously so he may lack some skills but more than makes up for it with his physical attributes - pace, height, strength and being from PNG, loves the contact. Under Sheens, Bula and Ngutilik, both from PNG, will come ahead as they wouldn't have the exposure to top flight coaching that players of similar ages enjoy.

Great feedback, appreciate BB 👍

I believe Brandon Mansfield is a local junior from Campbelltown and I posted an article way back where he won an award/scholarship for the indigenous community. He is a second row forward from memory with plenty of talent.
Can you find that article paws, be a good read again.

Hi Cobar,

This is the link to the article -

Great read and sounds like a good kid.
He refers to his Pop as from the Yorta Yorta, also known as Jotijota, they are an Aboriginal people who have traditionally inhabited the area surrounding the junction of the Goulburn and Murray Rivers. My mob rellies are near the Murray west of there.
I'm definately going to be following the lad.
