I’m afraid the news on Thursday won’t put a smile on WT supporters dial… my info as of tonight is he will officially tell Sheens he is staying at Parra…

It does seem that the club still doesn't understand how to get deals done for elite players.
Just because we met conditions that he asked for in order to consider playing for us doesn't mean we should be confident of his intentions. At least 3 clubs met those conditions!
If he doesn't sign it means our rebuild will take a couple of years longer. Signing an unproven kid who will take 2-3 years to settle into the NRL to eventually partner or be replaced by our youngster. We won't make the 8 until we have a decent halfback.

I joined at 39, if I could have my time again I would have been killing myself to get in straight out of school. A young male / female working in traincrew in heavy rail as in the kind we are discussing can create a fantastic future with great perks. In saying that it comes with a caveat. The money is awesome. But it does come at a cost, you have no life, the shift work isn't shift work per se as there isn't any consistency only that you will start on an am shift or a pm shift the start times vary like crazy from day to day. Friends tend to leave because we just don't have the time to hang out, we're always on the go, days off aren't consistent one week you will have a weekend off then the next wed and Thurs. If the young guy doesn't mind the grind of working he can do very well for himself. It is super competitive because the money is so good, but again there is a down side. If it's not an issue for him tell him to have a crack if he needs any advice just pm me and I'll be more than happy to try to help him.

By who ? No offense but @pawsandclaws1 and @Jedi_Tiger stating this doesn't make it true. I cannot see a professional sporting organization thinking like this.

I'm pretty confident that Hastings for whatever reason wasn't rated by the incoming coaching staff or better put Brooks has been rated a bit higher. That doesn't mean they've made the right decision but we get to find out over next season and maybe beyond that.

Hastings was considered a 13 at the club. He was released by the club to take up a better offer for the Knights and play 7. Remember also Joey Johns wanted Brooks and had to settle for Hastings - Plan B. If you don't believe our coaching team, believe Johns.

Moses was always going to stay at Parra as long as Parra could get close to our offer. Also Issac Moses has used the negotiations to get inflated deals for a couple of his other clients. It’s been a big win for the Moses clan.

Now we have to have a crack at a kid, like the one at Parra who is now a bridesmaid for a long time if he stays at Parra

Was good money but as liltiger says -no personal life. Just about everyone I worked with was divorced.

Knew a guy too who worked there.
Good money, but he had clear mental issues from the time.

Better rostering would remove that. But some people want more money.

Like many others, the thought of Moses leaving one of the top sides in the competition, and all of his mates , was a long shot. As the old saying goes,-- as one door closes ,another opens. We have gained a lot of positive publicity during this time, which has raised our profile, and this is good. New talent appears every year, we are on the up, this is just a stumble on the way.

All he cares about is Top Dollar. Legitimate or otherwise.

Ruthless.

This is why I think he won't move from Parramatta to the Tigers.

The Lakers have something like 7 "Klutch" clients on their roster...under Madge we made around 8 signings from Ayoub...

It happens in all sports.

I like Bateman...but no one in the world was offering him four years. Even Wigan fans wanted to see if he had much left before a 2 year extension...

There was literally not a club on the planet bidding 4 years for Bateman.

So, why four years?

Because clubs do that to sweeten their relations with player managers. All sports. All the time.

Wasn't a 4 year contract required in order to apply for the type of visa that allows him to bring his family. I think I read that somewhere, and that was the issue at Canberra.

I am a retired train driver, loved driving the trains, plenty of job satisfaction, but with the rostering you become a social outcast unless you have very understanding friends

I believe that Newcastle/Johns wanted Brooks and our coaching staff preferred Brooks to Hastings. We'll wait and see if they made the right decision though until we see performances.

Warren Buffet has made bad investment decisions. The morale being that just because someone is a gun in their field it doesn't mean they get it right all the time.

If they're wrong again, which looks very likely to me, they really need to have a hard look at themselves.

They obviously have a hard time seeing the full picture which opens us up to being played.

You are viewing that in isolation. Two other clubs made the same decision. There seems to be a pattern.

Isaac and Mitch would be on the same page … go in and see sheens on Thursday to say we are going to Parra BUT we’re rrallly really really close to signing with the tigers AND we promise we didn’t use you to bump up my salary at Parra or pay overs for 4 years for Bateman.

Isaac and Mitch walk out with money in their pockets from WT.

Good lesson for Benji and Robbie for future recruiting. They’ve got more business nous than Justin and Lee.

I just can’t believe this, if Moses uncle deals this way it would be all over every coaches handbook! Let’s face it, people talk an if Moses is playing coaches and teams like this. It would be all over very soon, that crap wouldn’t fly for long…

Spartan, yes money is always a big motivator. But how many people would leave a very succesfull club, leaving years of friendships, to risk starting at another club at 28 ?
With the large contract ,and subsequent abuse Brooks has copped, Moses would have the biggest dartboard on his back of all time,. He is a hero at the Eels, at the Tigers no matter what he did , he would be slammed.

Why is this an issue ? Would it be better not to go for the player ? They've already signed Api, Klemmer, Bateman and IP. Should we not have gone for them ? Did we read those incorrectly ?

When you miss out on a house at an auction have you been played ?

I'm not. All I'm stating is that the future will determine if the right decision was made and no one knows the future in that way.
