Have to wonder if he was asked the question and the journo has run with it or if he has put himself forward. If it is the latter he isn't a real leader. If he was asked and has spoken openly about it I sort of get it but ....
the great leaders I have known personally aren't full of themselves and telling their own story. Great leaders are are humble and are great leaders by their actions; sometimes by their words sure but that is about the courage to speak out - not the temerity to talk about how good your leadership skills are.
I am not part of the playing group so maybe he is right, but my observations of his on field performances certainly make me think otherwise.
Happy to be proven wrong but I think there are better and more obvious choices to captain our team.

I like him but he does sound like a dork doesn't he. I've got interpersonal leadership skills and I pick the brains of business minds.

Doueihi should captain the Magpies in NSW cup.
Brooksy doesn't talk.
I'm ok with him having it but he has to lock down a position first. Not sold on him as a 5/8th. He's got this year to prove otherwise.

Api would be my smoky, sends the message that leadership up to and including 2022 wasn't good enough. Doueihi can be vice if Api is playing origin (fat chance when at WT haha) or not playing 80.

This season is going to be interesting.
I want the captain to lead from the front, bring the team together when it’s tough & motivate them out of trouble.
If AD gets the nod he better be extended before the season starts so he can focus 100% on the team. No way he should be captain if he isn’t. Being captain and also self managing there own next contract isn’t a great mix.

Joffa would be good as captain but Appi as the smokey due to having him on the field full time specially in the first year of this re build ( Appi C. Joffa VC

I don't really follow this line of thinking. I think he is one if not the most overrated player on this forum and even within the club.
I've been guilty of overrating him as well.
I want to see consistent high quality performances from him this season.
