Juniors - Pathways General Discussion

Manly Matts are a BIG team and started the first set in defence like they were going to cut the Magpies in half. Although the heat meant they quickly went off the boil and the magpies 9, smith and Laulilii caused all sorts of issues darting from dummy half. It was far from a perfect game, there were plenty of errors, particularly in the play the ball. Laulilii made an absolute meal of a bomb which gifted Manly their only try. The defence overall was good from the boys. Makasini was great, big strong and athletic and he and Large worked well together. Large was excellent again, with the exception of one long pass which missed its mark, everytime he touched the ball it looks like something will happen. His interplay with Laulilii looks really promising, in the Cronulla trial it was the little inside ball to Laulilii trailing on the inside for a try, same play today but Large went himself, went straight through and rounded the Manly fullback with minimal effort to streak away for a 60m try. Isdale is busy and works hard he just doesn't seem to take the right options IMO. we were also held up a number of times over the line so I think the scoreline flatters Manly. Overall for me the standouts were 4, 6, 1, 9, 2 but a positive first hit out.

Tell us more on Isdale, what position ?

6 and 7 for wests Harold Matthews.

7. Very hands on confident 7. Small but hard to tackle. Will bump of players and still off load. Good organiser too

6. Hard to explain. Very tough defender and in attack he just kida explodes. Not like benji with his speed. But it's more power and class and has a good pass too.

Macarthur Wests Tigers on fire in the Andrew Johns Cup. Missed the start, but from what I have seen, the winger Johnson looks a good player. Scored 1 impressive try, nearly broke right through to score a bit later and apparently got 1 earlier too.
Up 20 to 4 at ht.

Paul’s very good, so is Isaac on the other wing.

Brooklyn Milford (#14 hooker off the bench) is from the Harold Matts squad but hasn’t played for a few months through injury, so is coming back through this team.

He’s the best player in this team, for sure.

Thanks mate. Will keep an eye out for him.

Any idea who else to look out for in the next game? Outside of the 4 Harold Matts boys (Colquhon, Waqa, Leatigaga and Folaumoetui).
