Adam Doueihi #227

You have to experiment at times and unfortunately you have to do that during the season. Trials and training are different to game time.
Look what happened last year with chopping and changing because of injuries...Sheens needs to have a top 17 ready at the start, not be undesicive going into season 2023...

I disagree. I'm sure he has an idea about the top 17 but if it isn't working you need to make changes. Injuries will also happen.

Doueihi's greatest threat imo at WTs is Laurie. Laurie imo is a player with a very high ceiling. He hasn't reached it yet of course but I'm sure under Marshall he will display his potential. He is a natural ball-player, has great instincts, can defend and is quick.

This Doueihi v Brooks narrative is false. The club has gone all in for Moses and I believe Marshall/Sheens have already made their minds up.
All in for Moses at 7. Where does that leave brooks?

he will play 6

Assuming we are a professional footy team then the only option is for Brooks and Doueihi and potentially Laurie to fight it out for the 6 spot based on who is the best performer relative to salary.

Brooks was basically a 6 last season as was Doueihi. Brooks was the better player but I think Doueihi has a lot more potential.

Let's see what happens.

At 6 consistent with how Sheens and Marshall have articulated how it will be.
So we are admitting that the brooks 10 year experiment at halfback has failed? And we now try him at 6? How long do you think is a reasonable timeframe for brooks to show he can excel at 6 before he should be dropped?

This is exactly right. Why do people think brooks has a guarantee on the 6 or 7 regardless of performance. This mentality that even exists within the tigers is probably why he hasn’t delivered in the last few years.

The money he's on.

This season in my opinion Brooks and Doueihi are pretty safe because they don't have much if any competition. It's just going to shuffling deck chairs on the titanic.

They both don't have contracts post this season. They've both been exceptionally well paid without delivering. We owe them nothing.
Agree with that earl, I'm just saying they are a shoe in for a spot until they are released, sacked or whatever. They won't go to reserve grade unless it's the Titanic.

Luke Keary handed over the 7 jumper when Sam Walker arrived. Does that mean Keary is a failure? Halves should be interchangeable.

Read the comments attributed to Sheens and Marshall on Brooks. It is not just "people" but the coaches and if you believe the rumours, Moses as well.

neither Brooks or Doueihi will be palying reserve grade in 2023 that is ridiculous

The old saying is that your only as good as your last game. We can extend that to the last season in this case - which was a shocker for AD. I can't give him any leeway; coming back from injury was an excuse early but his attitude at times stank and they way he phased in and out of the game at times made me wonder if he was on the field mentally.

Being behind a beaten pack doesn't cut it for me. Surely by the time Noddy took over there was an opportunity to be more creative - but we certainly didn't see it.

A completely different game plan under the new coaching regime so it is a clean slate from me. I have been pretty critical of him but I am happy to give him another shot.

Now that Daino and Smith are in in the mix and pushing him, combined with no contract for 24, the motivation to get stuck in should be bubbling out of his ears. I hope we get an opportunity to see Daino at 5/8 during the second trial with AD outside him as well so we can get a feel for what options we have. I think that is the type of attack Tim and Benji have been talking about.

AD has some talent sure, but he has a shit tin of bad habits and goes AWOL in games too often for my liking. I would like him to prove me wrong at 5/8 but for mine he is a centre. I don't think he has the fortitude to make it in the piggies so if he doesn't cut it in the backs this year he should be on his bike.
