Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Moses was the only experienced half on the market. Brooks has proven many times he's not an organising 7.

I'd suggest despite Pom's comment, our only option is to look at an Ethan Sanders type player coming up.

The junior halves we have coming through are still at least 3 years away, that's if they make it.

I don’t get what people are annoyed about the club put their best foot forward and tried to get an elite player. Unfortunately he decided to stay where he was but we didn’t do any harm to our reputation. Should we just here and go let’s not chase him cause he won’t leave? I’m proud of the club for getting out there and having a go
Yes u are right to a point, it’s just the back and forth with negotiation that gave me the shits. At some point u say yes we will give u the extra $100,000 and the extra year, but sign here now or we are out!!
Although, silver lining we mad the sea slugs pay through the teeth for him!

Yeah but then what if he ses no we are still in the same position we are now but eels have paid less for him

Really?
Robbie Farah says hello. 🤣

That was the most useless coach i have ever seen in 70 years that did that and he was aided by the mentally deficients on the board.Robbie certainly had his faults but he loves the club and he should have been remembered for a man who only played for the one club which i consider to be the highest accolade i will give any player.Every club needs long term players who have only ever played for that club

The positives

1. We have juniors coming through
2. We have a decent salary cap situation
3. We have people in charge who portray a positive image of the club and can attract players better than our last coach (6.5/10… not perfect but not terrible)

Negatives

1. Our spine is not settled and we have to settle for “hope” that they perform despite years of inconsistency.
2. Possibly end up with the same halves for another 2-3 yrs before any new blood or transfers emerge.

Summary :

We are really putting all eggs on Brooks and Douehi to get us to the 8 in the next two years.

Let’s see.

Api and Ipap were arguably the form players of the comp in their positions last year, I think we've landed some decent sized fish of late.
Both signed by Maguire who is no longer here.

I'd also argue we signed Paps before he proved he was more than someone having 1 good year, his stock rose after he signed, much like what happened with the Dogs after they signed Burton.

Penrith were only willing to offer Api a 1 year extension. Again, he was picked for Origin after he signed.

We still have not landed anyone where there was competition for their signature: JAC, Latrell, Ciraldo, TPJ, Moses, Munster to name a few. Not surprising to see it continue after last years' debacle, but doesn't make it less true.

I know it was only a trial, our 7 did well when the rest especially the forward pack & our defence did their job. Our incumbent 7 i'm pretty sure is a much better player all round and I'm ust trying to imagine had he played that trial... Everyone has to do their job & lets see how he goes

I would have liked Moses but there were certainly red flags with that transaction ie. contract price and term. Look at Hines on $850k pa. I honestly think Brooks will take the comp apart this year. He is primed for a great year if he has the confidence in himself. Has the grunt upfront now. If we can snag a high quality FB I am all for it. Would love to see Bula unleased as well.
