Holding the F ing ball may be an option as wellI have been silent since Sunday and have rewatched the game a couple of times to see if I could fathom what is wrong with our team. I don't think it's Sheens or the coaching staff though. We saw against Canberra that when what they are trying to achieve is executed it can work.
Despite some atrocious efforts on the weekend I also don't think it is really about individuals. Although a couple of them in their current positions are simply not up to the task. The problem that I have seen over the last two games is cohesion - it is the ability of the collective to deliver.
Good teams make the 1%ers to get them through adversity. I don't think it is that we are lacking effort, despite what it may look like, I think we are lacking cohesion. 60ish% completion rates highlights the issue in neon lights.
Lack of cohesion results in frustration and errors. The evidence is everywhere if we care to look: Api making breaks up the middle but no-one flooding the play; Brooks searching for hole runners and being left out in the cold and Twal trying to ballplay with no support are all examples of effort without cohesion.
On the other side of the fence we simply have glaring deficiencies that make certain players unsuitable for the roles they are playing: Daino under high ball, Brooks as an organiser, AD in defence and as a link player and Nofa's attitude are good examples.
Despite the terrible start we have put in I think there is an opportunity to correct the imbalance.
I doubt they will start with it but I think that re-balance could be Wakeham in at halfback. I know that he isn't dynamic but I think he could do the job of driving the team around the park and providing the coordination that we appear to be missing. I would like to see Brooks to 5/8 and AD to the centres; but I expect Brooks will backfill Api. Staines at FB to cover Dainos issues under the high ball is a good move.
I think Nofa only holds his spot because TT and Daino are injured.
In the forwards our hand has been forced a little because ICE has been rubbed out. I trust we will see Bateman in for Tumeth. Not holding my breath though.
I don't think that the game plan or the coaching needs to change too much:
- Play direct for the first 15 to settle the game - running at spaces not faces.
- Get the ball to the edges with shape from there.
- Second phase play off a bent or broken line only.
Is that for real or a polite excuse for being dropped ?Minor knee injury.
Thats a weak rule.I assume you declare to the NRL what primary position each player in your Top 30 is before the season starts and then if injuries occur to most, or all players in that position, they allow the exemption.
For example, Cooper Johns isn’t in Manly’s Top 30, yet he was allowed to play as soon as an injury to Schuster occurred.
I assume Schuster was one of only probably 1-2 players listed as a five-eighth in their Top 30, so Johns was granted exemption to be in their 22, and they played him.
Maybe that can be our revised game plan.Holding the F ing ball may be an option as well
^ Brooks fan first, Tigers fan a distant second.don't think wakeham will play think it is cover for Bula to debut. Bateman in for tumeth and he can cover some 9 if needed
Thank you, great post. I was gutted too and was going off & I'm known as Mr positivity when it comes to this team in my household. I couldnt rewatch but did think along this line today.I have been silent since Sunday and have rewatched the game a couple of times to see if I could fathom what is wrong with our team. We all doI bet you do champ
I would say this is his last chance, at least in the short term, for Stef to shake off whatever’s holding him back, and have a real crack.I think Stefano should consider himself lucky that he is playing this week, I haven't been overly impressed with his 2 outings. I hope we see Wakeham in the halves with Doueihi.
The issue with our current team is that Brooks and Doueihi simply cannot play alongside one another. Neither of them are dominant players so when they both play in the spine both of them end up playing uncertainly, not sure whether they should be making a call or leaving it to the other. And more often than not both of them pass the buck and the the team suffers. We need to pick one of them in the halves and drop/move the other one. There's a reason their winning % is so low when both play together in halves.I have been silent since Sunday and have rewatched the game a couple of times to see if I could fathom what is wrong with our team. Maybe Wakeham to give Api rest, Brooks to dummy halfReckon halves will stay the same
Wakeham to alternate with Koroisau, maybe
Gotta be Luke’s sister .. there can be no other explanation^ Brooks fan first, Tigers fan a distant second.
This one is pretty weak. Not really a long time lol.
Round 24, 2022 was the worst Wests Tigers team selected in our history.
don't think wakeham will play think it is cover for Bula to debut. Bateman in for tumeth and he can cover some 9 if needed
Either way it is the right moveIs that for real or a polite excuse for being dropped ?
19 months and counting....We all do
We haven’t won a game with the imp at 7 since 2021 🤣
Lee’s boy…perhaps he’s a tax deduction for Lee and needs to stay in first gradeI would say dropped but not certain. Don’t be surprised if final team has a few surprise changes. Maybe Wakeham for Brooks ?
But Nofa survives.
