EELS STAR COULD BE SQUEEZED OUT - Waqa Blake

The Parramatta Eels face losing another grand final star with reports Waqa Blake could be squeezed out due to salary cap constraints.

Wide World of Sports reports a new deal for Mitchell Moses, who has been offered four years at $1.1 million a season, would mean little room to re-sign Blake. It comes after the Eels also locked down half Dylan Brown on a bumper deal.

The Fijian-born flyer is off-contract at the end of the season and according to WWOS, “rival clubs are circling”.

Blake would join Isaiah Papali’i, Reed Mahoney, Marata Niukore as grand finalists to have left the club since the defeat to the Panthers.

SHARKS BACKROWER’S BIG CALL - Teig Wilton

Cronulla enforcer Teig Wilton is reportedly hot property, with at least six clubs lining up to sign the backrower.

Wilton’s contract ends after the 2023 season and is free to negotiate with rivals for the 2024 season and beyond.

According to WWOS, the Sharks have begun talks to extend his stay in the Shire but Wilton will likely hold off on signing a new deal as his value rises with regular starting minutes.

The Rabbitohs are reportedly keen on his services and assistant coach John Morris is shaping as a key figure in Wilton’s potential recruitment.

Morris is Wilton’s uncle and the Redfern-based club reportedly believe he’s the perfect man to partner experienced five-eight Cody Walker on the left edge.

Meanwhile, the reigning premiers the Panthers are said to be one of the other clubs interested in his signature.

Should we have a crack at either of them .. ?? for me it's a no .. !!

Blake is past his prime…. No thanks

Uncle Harry said it himself, on record - he said he was happy to sponsor the club and support them annually in whatever way they wanted to spend the money he provided.

But if they wanted him to get serious with investment, he was going to run the whole shebang his own way. And Wests Ashfield politely said "no thanks".
I'd be happy with him taking over compared to ashfield

Wonder if They handed things over how things would look now, a sliding door moment. On one hand I like the idea of privatisation. It removes any committees, whether it's a boardroom or any other that run a club in doing that there's no more infighting, no more leaks to the media to undermine the coach or other board members. The owner chooses a direction and the club heads that way.
The reason I'm against it is because it can go south pretty bad, if the owner hasn't got a clue they could potentially destroy the club. No club should be anyone's plaything because they have money.
On the whole I would prefer the Tigers to be a privatised organisation. Reason being we are on the negative end of having a boardroom. Our board are dysfunctional, have no clue about league, constantly at issue with each other and literally have carte Blanche because they cannot be held to account for any of it.

I just found out my 9 year old grandson is taught by Mitchell Moses future mother-in-law so I asked his parents to see if they could get any inside information.
They found out direct from the horse’s mouth that my grandson is doing OK but could do better if he concentrated a bit more.
Hope that helps.
Sounds like your grandsons a wests tigers supporter, bwahahahaaaaa

Just more Brooks bashing. He was the only player that looked decent. Api was below par, Steff was a powder puff,AD was terrible, Laurie is not a FB. TT must be Lee and Nofas love child, Klem and Kepoae showed heart.
But again the smallest guy gets the shaft for the other 14 hopeless slow duds. Simkins excluded, he is a player of the future.

As use can probably tell last weekends performance really got to me I don’t think I’ve ever been so down after a west tigers loss. It almost broke me as a fan. After all the hope and excitement over the off season to see us loose in the same fashion we have been for the last 10 years really killed me
I disagree that the loss on Sunday was typical of the losses we have suffered since we were last in the semis.

I’m going to generalise here, but typically over the past decade we generally enjoyed less than 50% of possession – often 40% - 45% only. Our forwards were often dominated.

But in the past, unlike the past two matches, when we did get the opportunity to attack, we were capable of scoring points. It was the lack of opportunities that did for us.

In the past two matches we have had more than 50% of the ball and plenty of opportunities to attack. But our attack is non-existent. The spine is ultimately responsible, but it goes further than that. They need support around them to provide options. There is no understanding and no cohesion. That is a coaching issue.

I reckon if an aging Robbie and an aging Benji at the back-end of their careers in 2019 had the number of opportunities to attack that we had on the weekend, we would have put the Knights away comfortably.

I believe the loss was atypical for us: plenty of ball, plenty of attacking opportunities; but a completely dysfunctional attack.

The smallest guy is supposed to direct the team on how to play, something he is useless at. He has the footy iq of a gnat. Can't control a game, his pass selection is garbage, no kicking game, definatly one of the bottom 3 halves in the comp. Brooks is a myth and will never get the Tigers anywhere. He has been through 6 coaches. Yet it's always the coaches fault. 6 different coaches are all at fault, not the 1 constant that hasn't changed in that time. He has a pack now making space for him and he is clueless. Even blind Freddy last weekend knew, they're down on troops work in through the middle and work the ruck over, but no boy genius and Douhi decide touchline to touchline is the way to go. I just hope the next forward to get a hospital pass at the line from him puts one on his jaw in the locker room, maybe then he will wake up.
