Tupou was solid, scored a 70m try in the last minute.

Bula was poor. Dropped a few kicks, out of position in defence, never passed the ball when chiming into the backline either. He's a long way off first grade standard. Maybe a development contract next year and NRL in 2025 at best.

Halves were solid, unspectacular. There was a very strong wind and we tried a lot of kicks but couldn't get the ball back.

Still a lot of tries based on individual skill or diving over from 1m out.

The replacements for toa was very poor. Livai solid. Rua gradually improving. A lot of errors from both teams.

Didn't think Matamuas hit was that late. Kautoga runs good lines, got out first, but also got sin binned for a late hit

How was Wakeham and Smith?

Sorry my bad, it was Kautoga who hit Klune late. F**K him, I hope he gets suspended.

Bula is a work in progress. He needs to improve on his positional play and bomb disposals massively before he's ready for firsts. But he has the skills, speed and size to succeed.

Will Smith seemed more interested in punching on than playing footy. He will probably replace Simpkin on the bench for lack of other options. Rua is still short of match fitness and frankly a very one dimensional hooker.

Wakeham isn't as bad as his first trial suggested, though he's a running half and we need an organising one. Are there any off contract? A very left field option would be Jacob Miller from Super league.

Overall, it was a scratchy performance from the Magpies. They bombed 4 tries and coughed up a lot of ball to keep the Knights in the game. It should've been a much bigger win.

Yesterday, they played all over the Knights in the first 10-15 mins, looked like they were going to lap them - albeit not scoring - (looked just as easy as the 1st round win over the Roosters).
From there, they seemed to go into 2nd gear, going through the motions, just expecting to win with minimum effort.

Good news, Wests v Bulldogs is being streamed on Facebook, so no need to pay $40 to attend the game in person.

Here is the team list: https://www.nswrl.com.au/draw/nsw-cup/2023/round-3/bulldogs-v-magpies/

Good to see Mansfield and Hill (X 2) back on deck. I'm nonplussed about Reilly. Like Fainu, I'm sure he'll be moved on as soon as his WT contract ends.

Bulldogs team doesn't look as strong as it was last year, though I wouldn't mind poaching Topine. Kurtis Morrin would also be a handy backup. Interesting to see that Hoffman has been moved back to the centres. The Bulldogs have a lot of depth in the outside backs, so doubt he will see any first grade despite being promoted to the top 30.

Based on the Warriors trial, Reilly looked to have trimmed down and was quite sharp when running the ball.
Has potential to be the tackle busting ball runner we need.

Could be a rough game this week. Fair bit of movement up into the NRL squad or out suspended. Kade Hill and Reilly are going to have to deliver like Wakeham and Smith have in the halves so far.

What happened with that Ben Houston the Randwick Rugby guy? Is he still here or did he go back? Looked like a bean pole to be playing league.
