I don’t discount that - we certainly don’t have an elite halves pairing.

I just don’t think that a change in halves would really do to much to our success rate without fixing the plethora of other issues our side.

Our pack is good and vastly improved, our halves need better outside backs with pace and ability to run into a hole and we need a fullback wiith better positioning and support running.

Our halves aren't good enough. They both look like running 6's that would struggle to make a lot of other teams. Brooks is on 1 million this season and Doueihi I assume is on a 500k plus contract. Way too much cap tied up in guys that aren't very good.

I Loved going to the Hill then my eyesight weakened and staring into the sun made it worse. We ended up getting Season tickets in the Latchem & I took to taking binoculars. We moved to Adelaide in April 2005 and I flew back to LO games throughout 2005. Then came back for the GF cos my mate had Olympic Stadium membership seats.

Our halves aren't good enough. They both look like running 6's that would struggle to make a lot of other teams. Brooks is on 1 million this season and Doueihi I assume is on a 500k plus contract. Way too much cap tied up in guys that aren't very good.

I think our halves would be fine with capable outside backs.
I don’t know why salary is even a consideration, we don’t know the real figures we don’t know the circumstance so I think it’s pointless talking about it. but for the sake of the argument if LB and AD were only on $500k collectively would we still be happy with the last ten years Or getting the wooden spoon last year, No. if the argument is that we could have better players in other positions if they were on less then there is no guarantee of that neither. there are also players in every team that should be on more but are not, and salary is as much about timing and demand as it is about ability

If he was serious, he would be looking into the Roosters, Souths and Dogs right now and also needs to attend some of their so-called Golf games, check player partners jobs and salaries.. It's an ongoing laugh from past players..

NRL has their Heads in the sand IMO and needs to stop TPA or cap them so all teams are on the same playing field.

ARL Commission boss Peter V’landys says the NRL integrity unit will launch a salary-cap investigation if there is evidence of illegal rorting involving Roosters recruit Brandon Smith.

Speaking exclusively to News Corp last week, Smith’s manager Stan Martin made the explosive claim that at least one NRL club had offered an illegal payment outside the salary cap to sign the Kiwi Test star.

Martin made it clear the Roosters’ successful offer to sign Smith was completely legal under NRL salary-cap rules.

But V’landys urged Martin to come forward with evidence of salary-cap cheating if he has any correspondence that could uncover any proposed illegal transaction involving an NRL club or official.

“We won’t tolerate salary-cap cheating,” V’landys told Sport Confidential.

“If Brandon Smith’s manager has some information, I encourage him to make that information available to the NRL integrity unit.”

New Zealand-based Martin said last week he was shocked by one club’s offer of an under-the-table payment and rejected any impropriety.

“No brown paper bags,” he said. “Everything we do must be above board.

“There was one club that offered me a backhander, but I had no interest in anything dodgy like that.”

The NRL has only had two major salary-cap scandals in the past 13 years. The Storm produced the worst rort in history in 2010, stripped of two premierships after cheating the salary cap by $1.7 million, while Parramatta had 12 competition points deducted for their breach in 2016.

There is no suggestion those clubs are involved in any wrongdoing in relation to Smith’s eventual move to the Roosters.

V’landys has put the 17 clubs on notice, saying any allegation or information of salary-cap cheating will trigger an immediate NRL integrity-unit probe.

“It’s a serious allegation,” he said of Martin’s revelation.

“If he has evidence of some club trying to cheat the system, he should immediately hand it to the integrity unit for them to investigate.

“If he can provide some evidence, we will certainly be taking action, no fear or favour.”

So two questions here:

1. Who offered the under the table inducement?
2. No one turns their back on the money offered, so are Easts also under investigation on how they managed to subvert it?

The club needs to start promoting players playing well in KOE if their first grade counterparts are not pulling their weight. I mean injuries have obviously forced Sheens hand this week, but would have Laurie lined up again if he was fit? My guess is he probably would have.

Agreed. We don't know player contract values and Brooks receives payments for prior years. In the first two games, we put ourselves in a position to win but failed to take advantage of the opportunities we created.

Isn't the job of the halves (this included Doueihi as well, not just Brooks,) to execute and get the boys over the stripe? Neither of them are doing enough. We are getting plenty of field position so the forwards are doing their jobs.

Maybe it's Pascoe and he gets himself suspended again. Hopefully this time permanently without any ramifications for the club.

Get rid of Pascoe, move Lee back to just being a sponsor and we're on the right track.

If we had Sivo for example, I highly doubt we'd get him in good positions consistently the way Parra do. We couldn't even get Staines in space on the wing when Newcastle had their winger sin binned.

Agree but we crossed the line two times and had it taken away cause we dropped the ball and we’re ruled to have impedead

Outside backs and second rowers have to be running the right lines and attacking the holes in defence and halves have to know which is the better option. So it is six of one……

i don’t think Nofo looked good at Melbourne he was not a stand out for me.

I basically agree but I don't think Nofo looked better at the Storm and I think IP looks pretty good here. I don't think our halves have been good at all.
