Onya Bateman!

I can’t believe he is playing about half the size that he was when he last played at Canberra.
I mean he has always been a small forward but he is just over 90kg at the moment.
But man he is strong regardless and a real tough competitor brought down Kikau a few times pretty easily.
One of our best was around the same size - Liam fulton

I hope he stays on the park.
No fear attitude is great and what we need... Hope he doesn't break

He's been a real myth this year, and that's saying something in a team of mythological players...
said I tlate last year joffa is the only forward worth some cash that we might have possibly been able to offload (a club want) and more importantly replace with other players.
This year we do not have much depth in halves we only have Brooks AD wakeham Smith Laurie that is about it.

Looks like FoxSports weren't overly impressed by Bateman's game either.

"Star recruit John Bateman, who signed on a deal worth about $800,000 a season, also made his club debut, but may have been left sidelined for another week if it wasn’t for Isaiah Papali’i’s suspension according to Tim Sheens.

Sheens was desperate for the English international to inspire his troops to their first win of their 2023 campaign, but the 29-year-old backrower struggled.

Across the 80 minutes, Bateman ran for only 70 metres and made three errors, conceding a singular penalty.

He also bombed the Tigers’ best chance at a four-pointer in the first half, grubbering the ball through the line before he fumbled the grounding.

While Bateman didn’t prove to be a huge contributor, skipper Apisai Koroisau spoke highly of his leadership on the field and Sheens revealed he doesn’t even know every play the Tigers run."

If you take the performance of the forward pack alone we deserved to win all three of these games, most of these guys are busting their ass to get us into the red zone and are doing so successfully, which has been a key issue of ours for years. Unfortunately when one problem is addressed another arises and we haven't been able to capitalize off their hard work. If you look at stat sheets over the past few seasons I can't remember having this many players run 100m+ each game, we'd be lucky to get a couple a game
Seriously how they don't belt some of their team mates in the locker rooms is beyond me. They kill themselves in 35 degree heat to watch the same people screw things up time after time.

I thought he was one of our best, his first game in 35 degree heat, his cover in defence was fine. I'm torn I don't know if I'm looking at things with Rose coloured glasses or if it's genuinely a fox sports bias against the Tigers. I'm not shy with my criticism of the team and coaching decisions. So I'm really not sure, but I was wrapped with Bateman.

I don't think whoever wrote the article knows what they're talking about...
His try? Unlucky bounce of the ball...
AD threw some hospital passes at him...got stitched up
70 running metres? good effort for his first game back under 35 degree heat....
If anything he needs some fake tan for those lilly white legs...man alive they give me cataracts.

Most of the comments are useless and one must ask "did they actually watched the game?"🤔
They either never played the game or they follow other sports e.g. synchronised swimming 😡
