Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Seriously who would want to sign with us!...

I can guarantee you Api, Ice and Klemmer are privately questioning their decision to come here...You can see it all over Api's face during the press conferences..

Players not getting a go at other clubs.

Yeh spine don't suit each other.

Questioning until there head hits the travel pillow in Melbourne tonight, where the duck feathers have been replaced by unmarked notes.

lets jus say we do move on for brooks
who do we go after for 7 ?

i feel like market is incredibley thin

- aiden sezer
- toby sexton
- ronald volkman
- brayden trindall
- junior amone
- blake taafe
- mitchell pearce
- brodie croft
- kurt falls
- george williams

i would love pezet but from all reports he has told his manager to not even entertain other clubs he wants to stay at melbourne

Pearce in a heartbeat although i do like Brad Schneider from the Raiders- he would put a rocket up everyone and we would have direction on the field.
We also need a 5/8 as AD is just as bad so I would try and get Blake Austin on the cheap (yes laugh but at least he has a dig) or buyout Connor Tracey for next season.

Moving forward if we had a halves paring of Pearce/Schneider and Tracey, I would be very happy.

Lewis Dodd from the St Helen’s has to be #1 target .

Kurt Falls next to Brooks. , local. And only 26

Braydon Trindall would be the ideal candidate. 23, great body size for defence and good defender, strong kicking game, goal kicking and from his sample size so far a really good footy brain (pass/kick/run selection and organisation). He has put the headset on for Fox Sports a few times post match and has spoken about football in terms of skill execution, match situation awareness and overall team performance with great accuracy.

He just resigned with the Sharks until 2025. He is clearly the successor to Moylan in their planning. What a promising player though - I’d love to have him on our books. I genuinely think he’d take us to the top 8.

I think George Williams is the most ready made option in the halves we have a realistic chance of signing. We could swap him for Brooks to maybe avoid a transfer fee but I’d also have zero problem with a transfer fee being paid to secure his service and would even contribute to a crowd sourced one in spite of everything the club currently owes us. He was great in the WC and has looked good at NRL level.

The only other candidate for me would be Pearce. He is a good player whether people like it or like him or not. In this situation there is a high chance he would improve our performances.

All these guys are off contract this year:

Alex Seyfarth, Apisalome Saukuru, Charlie Staines, Daine Laurie, Luke Brooks, Tommy Talau, Tuki Simpkins, Christian Ma'anaima, Josh Feledy,

I’d keep Staines and Laurie for another 12 months and that’s it. Maybe Feledy. The rest are terrible.

Some of names thrown up will never happen mid season let alone at all.

We need to look outside the profile names and go after someone from QLD/NSW Cup and give a kid a crack.

Right now we can’t get worse. Our current 1st options in the halves are costing us games multiple times over. The benchmark and expectations are the lowest they would be. It’s almost the best situation for a young kid to come into and make their own.

It won’t be worse than than what is happening. At best we find a new half at worse they become depth for the future.

Thought feledy locked up

I like the look of Brad Schneider he’s a young good sized halfback, fast & aggressive, looks to have a decent kicking game and looks to be a dominant good communicator with decent playmaking skills.
We could do worse than off loading a couple of our current under performing players and recruiting younger hungrier up and comers such as Schneider.
He now looks a much stronger more confident player than he was when first thrown into the starting halfback role for the Raiders this time last season.

Hawkins for me as he has a great kicking game, so at least we gain that.

Ethan Sanders

via https://thecumberlandthrow.com/2022...3-part-2-jersey-flegg-nrlw-development-squad/

The hype around Ethan Sanders right now is only just starting to build and for the Parramatta Eels that is a very, very good thing. The young playmaker entered 2022 in his junior year of SG Ball eligibility (i.e. turning 18 in an U19s competition) and would quickly go on to become a core figure in the Jersey Flegg team. The significance of that feat should not be undersold – Sanders wasn’t just holding his own against young men up to 3 years older than him, he was often excelling.

Long time readers will know that even in all my usual excitement and optimism when it comes to young talent I always preach that talent evaluation (especially as a club outsider) is an imprecise science. There are so many variables on and off the field that can wildly impact the course of a prospects outlook. That is doubly true for young halfbacks and five-eighths where the burden of crushing expectations and positional volatility often collide in spectacularly nasty fashion.

I throw that cautionary reminder out once again because in Sanders I see a very complete playmaker. Even given his youthfulness he has shown he can excel in all three phases of offence. Be it running, passing or kicking he shown a proficiency comfortably beyond his years and he was desperately unlucky not be picked for the NSW U19s this year. Even in defence, typically the bane of a star young half, he has shown a level of application that bodes extremely well.

I have Sanders pencilled in as the presumptive heir to Mitchell Moses and I expect his star to rise in meteoric fashion sooner rather than later. Right now, I think the focus will be for him to dominate the Jersey Flegg in 2023 and force his way into the NSW Cup program where he will begin his advanced applied studies in playmaking.
Need to stop signing on potential. Madden was seen as similar 3-4 years ago

We need to win now. It has to be established names first. Absolutely couldn’t get worse but we need to move heaven and earth to make it as good as it can be immediately if possible.

Guys we are stuck with Brooks, nothing we can do about it, the bed was made when we decided to keep him and move Hastings on.
Spilt milk and all that….

Come on bra.
You know just as well that Jordy is an avid twitter reader and loves the milfs.
You used to put just us much shit on him as anyone.
Can't flip like that to please people.
Amazing how many ppl sweat on this dude. What's the record?
This badge you guys get turns some of you into absolute tossers.
Ban me again for talking trash, I'm used to it
We can drop him to reserves for rest of season, why do we persist with a player that week after week helps our opponents.
