Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

All the other suggestions to me are trash. I want this kid and Welsby and I've hardly seen them play. It's more about hope.
Hope does not cut it for us anymore. Surely you can see that?

We pretty much have a win now forward pack. Api is 30, Klemmer 29, Bateman 29 - they are seasoned professionals in their peak career window.

We need to sign to win now. That is what aligns with our playing group and that is what must align with our organisation.

I like the look of Brad Schneider he’s a young good sized halfback, fast & aggressive, looks to have a decent kicking game and looks to be a dominant good communicator with decent playmaking skills.
We could do worse than off loading a couple of our current under performing players and recruiting younger hungrier up and comers such as Schneider.
He now looks a much stronger more confident player than he was when first thrown into the starting halfback role for the Raiders this time last season.

give ricky whoever he wants apart from the blokes having a go to get schneider

Damn! Thought we had him

Veteran front-rower Aaron Woods is on the verge of joining the Manly Sea Eagles for the final season of his career.
The 32-year-old St George-Illawarra prop is part of a swap deal between the Dragons and Manly

Manly’s exciting young forwards Alec Tuitavake and Viliame Fifita will make an immediate switch to the Dragons as part of the swap.

Manly coach Anthony Seibold sees him as an important mentor to the club’s younger forwards and his experience off the bench will benefit the Sea Eagles.

This will be the 32-year-old’s fifth club after stints at Wests Tigers, Canterbury, Cronulla, the Dragons and now Manly.

News Corp broke the original story of young forwards Tuitavake and Fifita joining Saints, effective immediately.

I'd love nothing more than to see Brooks and AD succeed here as local juniors.

But it's not going to happen as is and I doubt any other club would want to pick them up mid-season.

Both should go down to reserves for at least a month and get some confidence in the meantime.

Tigers should be looking to do exactly this , if other clubs are interested we could offer up Noffa and One other to get one or 2 we need in positions

Signed a long-term deal in England recently but I wouldn't mind giving Brodie Croft a go.

He always had a bit of talent and won man of steel over there. I think he's starting to come of age as a footballer and at only 25, best years ahead.

Sure he wasn't great here, but he was thrust into the Melbourne team at 20 to replace Cronk which is a tough act to follow and then was victim to that Seibold disaster in Brisbane. Won't ever be a world beater, but could very well be a Hastings level player without the off-field headaches.
Why get rid of brooks and get Croft, his CLONE to replace him, look around the lower grades of teams with top halfbacks already in there top grade, and offer them a deal,
But dont make a play for players who are as bad as the one we want to get rid of.

100% agree on this. Croft is an equally as limited version of Brooks. Will never succeed at first grade NRL level. Baffling that he is being touted as an option

lets jus say we do move on for brooks
who do we go after for 7 ?

i feel like market is incredibley thin

- aiden sezer
- toby sexton
- ronald volkman
- brayden trindall
- junior amone
- blake taafe
- mitchell pearce
- brodie croft
- kurt falls
- george williams

i would love pezet but from all reports he has told his manager to not even entertain other clubs he wants to stay at melbourne
To be fair, any of those will be upgrade on Brooks, at a way cheaper cost

GEORGE WILLIAMS - JACK WELSBY - ROGER TUIVASA-SCHECK

Securing 1 or 2 of these guys must be our priority.

No reactive let's get Brad Schneider or Dean Hawkins (are they really any better than Wakeham) or Brodie Croft (gee worked for the Broncos) etc, we need to secure an A grader that can LIFT players around them and give members/fans hope.

I'd love a spine next season of Bula - Welsby - Williams - Koirisau (and get a Connor Tracey that can play utility & slot in where required).

My alternate if we could sign RTS is also getting Kaoi Weekes & an experienced half like Sezer or Mitchell Pearce. Experience, direction & x-factor.

The challenge we face is that Williams is under contract until end of 2024 with Warrington & Welsby with St Helens until the end of 2025.

We would need to pay exorbitant transfer fee and/or provide a player swap (of one of ours under contract) that lessens the impact of those clubs losing those guys.

Enter Luke Brooks - David Nofoaluma - Adam Doeuhi - Joe Offa - Alex Twal - Starford Toa

Brooks, only contracted to us this season & probably only exchangeable for George Williams given $$$ involved & length of current contracts. Plus Brooks has a young child so may be reluctant to move to UK.

All the others I mentioned are contracted to us to either end of next season or longer & could very well be stars in the Super League (especially Douehi or Noffa), we'd just need to convince them of that as well as the SL club.

Can we pull something like this off?????

Did anyone else see that last night we set a new record for most losses in a row by WT? We’re at 9 at the moment and I can see it getting out to 15.
I’m replying to myself I know but it was such an intelligent post I just had to. I remember thinking last year and the year before that things can’t get any worse. Well they could and they have. So it would be even sillier to be thinking now that things can’t get any worse.
