LIVE GAME Round 4 vs Storm

Live Game Discussion
Um 😶, no , Douheis turnstile tackle on the tryline with the Rookie winger warbrick was one of the lamest , most catty tackles I have ever seen not attempted by a tigers fullback in 40 years … it was embarrassing… humiliating and sad to witness
Unfortunately many fullbacks miss tackles like that, trying to charge across in cover. That's not one I am specifically going to mark against Doueihi. Tedesco used to do it all the time.

It’s happened 4 weeks in a row.
I’d suspect the Broncs will play great next week. Can we lift? If not, a flogging is on the cards.
Well we often play well in Brisbane and they may suffer a letdown after the big derby the other night.
Anyway, I don’t care, a win would be a Godsend for us at this point in time.

Just broke me up to watch Ilias win that game for South’s tonight. Another Tiger junior who was moved on coz we had the worlds greatest half back.
But interesting that The Lawn Mower man dropped the ball and gave South’s the chance.
I’m actually not sure how Manly lost that game, even the Souths players were laughing after the match and you could see they scarcely believe they’d actually won.
Is it Ilias or is it the system he is in?

I.e. bring him back to Tigers and do the issues get fixed?

Good point J, I think you’re right and it’s the system, plus what seems to be the toxic nature of anything to do with the Wests Tigers.
It’s bordering on a curse !!!!!

Well I watched the replay and Ilias puts in a very bad short kick with 9 mins to go 12-12, but Souths are able to defend the 7-tackle set.

It's a big difference when the team can defend many of your errors. For example Brooks puts in, I think, 2 x 7-tackle set kicks and Tigers can't defend such things, with Storm marching downfield to score.

Not defending Brooks but the rest of the team also needs to be able to defend errors, not let the opposition think they can score every time they get any position or possession.

I'd say good maybe it'll bring about some changes but until we sign at least one quality half to partner Wakeham it's all deckchairs on the Titanic.

TommyT is hardly sighted in D but no one cares while ever everything else about his play is so effective. Winning takes the pressure off identifying players weaknesses and losing magnifies them.

Didnt watch the game just read the forum. Wow apparently another game could of won but halves let us down again. Seems to be a reoccurring pattern here
I watched the game and replayed it .We never looked like we could have won and it wasn't just the half's the entire backline was rubbish especially Brooks ,Naden ,Staines .entire 1-7 failed to create anything perhaps Tupou had some good stats but that's it !

Watching the other teams pass 4 or 5 passes rapidly across backline to wingers I think being on the wing for Tigers must be a nightmare as the ball never gets to you someone will hesitate or duck back inside and kill the play .Try conventional backline line out and play as a team .They look like they are all after some individual glory

So true, just like being a centre at the tigers who get shit, slow late ball. If Brooks had half a brain he would just shovel it on quick to our centres, but alas.

Storm were’nt terrible. They had completed at 95% and made 1 error playing 50 mins of footy. They dropped off in the second half as we improved in intensity.
Our continual errors and lack of ability to maintain any pressure as well as lack of cohesion and soft D are the main issues contributing to our inability to win.

Fact - Storm were awful we were worse.
They were there to be beaten but we had no
Idea how to pull them apart.
It worries the hell out of me that I, and many other supporters, can see what needs to be done, but highly paid, so called ā€œprofessional athletesā€ cannot.

The highly paid coaching staff seem to have even less of an idea than the players

I'm convinced some of the people on this forum commenting about who was good or bad don't actually watch the game and therefore form their opinion based on forum comments
I watch ,record and rewatch .This explains why so many jump on the bandwagon and hate one player and love others . Rewatching the Storm game I noticed Kepoa and what he did do and didn't do which contributed to Storms first two tries . Their 3rd try was simply Staines not diffusing a bomb .The overriding feeling when you rewatch was just how clunky and docile our backline was . Naden was so quiet I thought he must have been injured
Brooks simply kept taking the wrong option on last tackle .
Also rewatching previous games Nofo was no where near as bad as the forum makes out
In fact he seemed to be the best of our backs under high ball
I understand everyone cant watch every game but you just can't use the forum as your source of player performance data

Brooks also went low in the tackle that led to their first try where he should have gone in around the chest high and wrapped the ball..he had another body in defence helping him out..he was on the show pony trying to pull off an aggressive tackle.
