TEAM LIST Round 6 vs. Eels

Team List
Which winger has to defend Sivo? May be part of the reason. And I hope AJ's eyesight is better than when he last played wing.
I'm pretty sure AJ had eye surgery some time back so he shouldn't have too much trouble seeing Sivo growing ever larger as he is coming at him, what happens after that remains to be seen.

I am assuming that the reason he has been moved out to the wing is to mark Sivo.

AD at fullback was a disaster. Wakeham at 1/2 didn't work either.

Not at all a fan of Brooks and AD in the halves. Sheens sees something we don't. I thought for sure after last week that AD would be dropped to initiate a huge attitude adjustment. I fully expected Brooks to be selected despite needing some time in cup to build some confidence.

I rewatched the game today, glutton for punishment I know, Had AD been in position and put his body on the line half of the Donkeys points don't get scored. Staines at the back my be quiet but he has the speed and attitude to play at the back. If he can position himself well and has the right attitude I think he can own the 1. He also has the speed to push up around the middle and support Api out of the ruck so that is a bonus.

AJ on the wing gives us a bit more punch bringing the ball back so I'm not overly concerned with that selection.

If AD pulls his head out of his arse and fixes his attitude now he is back at 6, and we can: complete our sets; cut out the mistakes; and improve our discipline we may compete. If AD continues to be a spectator with limited interest in the game we will be toweled up.

I am interested to see what happens in Cup this weekend. Time to do a bit of experimentation to see what could be unearthed. I would like to see Sheens throw Daino into the halves and try a couple of combinations over the next few weeks. He may be the X factor, may not too, but if we don't give it a crack we will never know. If he did train in the halves during the off season, as has been suggested, the combinations shouldn't be too hard to build.
reckon daine Laurie will be at the Eels after the bye

Now Earl, you know how I feel about Joffa so please elaborate on why he “had to come back into the team” and what he will bring ? Line breaks, 100m plus yardage, tackling, draw and pass to put people into gaps ?
And you know he’s done virtually nothing in his NRL appearances this year.

He has been poor this year but I think he was underdone. Apparently he killed it in reserves last week and he was at worst one of our top 2 players last year. He is a worker but he'll make 100m every week plus make his tackles.

Thanks KR, I can now spend the rest of the night examining their weak spots and see how we will beat them.
I actually like the teams side by side which makes it a lot easier to identify the match ups.

We need a lock. Lock is so important to helping the halves. I would give Jake Simpkin a start at 13. I think he is killing it at 14 but we desperately need a 13 that has a bit of ball skill through the middle and can tackle. I think Fonua needs to come off the bench for impact. I see the same issue as everyone else the 6 & 7.
Matamua is coming, but he needs time, end of the year and he'll be there. I agree it's hampering us at the moment

Be surprised if he does either but respect your ongoing admiration for him.
PS what does killed it mean ? I have some definitions but want to know your ideas.

I didn't see it but apparently he ran for big metres. I think I read 200m.

Last year he consistently did his job. He definitely isn't Hass or Klemmer but he is better than Twal for instance.

I wish he and you well. Let’s hope he “kills” it up with the big boys !

He certainly killed it, now do you / Earl want to throw out some projected numbers for this week coz if he repeats that we just about win the game.
Looks like his stint in Reggie’s made him pull his finger out.
Also, where did you obtain those stats ?

I expect him to make basically all of his tackles and get 100 m with minimal mistakes. Last year I remember him doing a slight high tackle and he got pinged for it. It wasn't much but he was so angry with himself. We need players that are professional footy players that take pride in their application and he does that.

I’ll be interested to see what the official numbers are. Just to clarify you’re saying he’ll have no missed tackles but you’re not certain of a total projected number ?

Well actually by that argument, why not try him at winger?

If he's been killing it at backrow and centre, and it appears Sheens has truly unlocked something in AJ, why would he not also be capable of killing it on the wing?

I suspect it has a lot to do with the early-tackle runs. Junior T has been good, Staines has tried but is a little slight; I expect Sheens wants some power in early hitups.

I don't know how quickly you seem to forget that AJ debuted on the wing for Tigers (played 14 games there to date for us) and he came to Tigers from Roosters as a winger, playing wing for Norths in the 2019 reserve grade campaign (Bears knocked out in the semis).
Must admit I forgot all that 🤔

I expect him to make all his tackles. He might miss one or two but they all need to make their tackles and not have any big stuff-ups. I think he was dropped because he wasn't covering in defense and he needs too.

The problem is it's not just about stats. It's also about not stuffing up too much.

The NSWRL website has them mate.

Just press on last week's game in the "Draw" section.
