I could not possibly agree more with this.A half backs job is to organise and everything else is just secondary,it's wonderful if they can do more than organise but not essential

What a joke hey. Criticising Brooks now is bullying, no wonder we never improve the players are protected species and are soft. If Sheens thinks Brooks has been playing good football he's either lying hoping to build Brooks confidence or has lost all touch of reality. For 12 years the bloke hasn't been able to steer a team around, finish a set of six or even pretend to look like he knows what he's doing in the attacking 20.

Also, we should recall history and Sheens- he never has had a great belief in the traditional role and responsibilities of the halfback.

He shuffled players that were good at halfback away to other positions and replaced them with less capable ones. Lets not forget the John Morris 3 year endurance test at halfback- I loved Morris but as a hooker, not a half. And I also have a vague recollection that Scott Prince was only grudgingly given the halfback role which got us our premiership year (might be wrong but that bit is stuck in the old memory bank).

…and yet dozens upon dozens upon even more members of this very forum chastised the absolute minority who looked at this situation and declared it the most braindead idea they had ever seen in professional sports.

Ask the boss is back which indicates pascoe is happy.

Last game I saw sheens coach before nrl return was an allstars v England game which sheens won which Hastings was in his team. Still had it in that game was a great win.

I suspect Sheens overestimated Benji’s coaching ability and the time consuming distraction of delegating authority.

I don't see how Sheens could possibly over estimate the coaching ability of someone who has never coached.

I don't know about anyone else but I have trouble working out who is calling the shots on game day, whether it's Benji or Sheens. Sure, it is Sheens who fronts the media and cops the heat, but the coaches box during the game makes me wonder what is actually going on.

In any case Tim should have had some sort of an idea how time consuming it was going to be managing his time juggling the football manager's role (which I still assume he has something to do with) as well as coaching and delegating/mentoring 2 assistant coaches with no coaching experience and a third one that was sacked by his own brother when things went pear shaped at Canberra a number of years ago.

Sheens is normally down on the sideline so I guess it makes sense for Benji to be sitting in the box and taking things in from that angle. So I’d say Sheens is calling the shots and allowing Benji to contribute here and there.

First and foremost, nobody is out here directly attacking the bloke and making personal attacks on Brooks.
Nobody is bullying Brooks we are all just criticising his skillset legitimately.
The reality is he isn't a quality half that we need at this current moment, the club must open their eyes and finally realise that Brooks is not what we need moving forward. Amateur halfback really earning $1.1 million a season who has yet to steer his side to the finals in a decade and fails to perform some simple plays, complete a 5th tackle option - repeat set and the ball goes to kingdom come is just very embarrassing especially for a $1.1m player.

Every game, I bite my tongue in utter frustration. I'm burning inside. This is all of us. This isn’t our year but I’m happy to give this setup a chance to get it together. The lads aren’t robots and it’s so hard to turn something like this around immediately. Easy to say sheens has lost it or the spine is clueless or whatever but ranting and raving about it doesn’t help, getting sick over it is defs not worth it and we’re probably largely set from a personnel point of view now so I’ll revert to being a hopeful fan for a bit.

Its very predictable that Brooks will play 1 good game this season and then immediately be re-signed. I seriously can't be convinced of any other possible outcome.

Every team plays the five hit ups and kick/ bomb. It was never a game plan owned by Maguire - bandwagon mentality when people are after someone to lay blame at
A kick chase game no matter how often it is implemented in a game is only effective on the back of the attitude of the players to execute it - carry, chase, compete, and defend - and our squad in most games performed poorly in all areas hence why we got smashed.
If you havnt got the players with the skills and attitude to be successful with the simplest fundamentals of footy don't know why some thought that a new coach and attractive footy game plan would be executed any better at a club that is ingrained with underperforming.

There was something Sterlo (or someone similar said).
We see 12 coaches doing the same thing, trying to copy Melbourne. There are only 3 original coaches doing something different in the game, Des Haslier, Tim Sheens (and I can't remember the third, maybe Bennett or Ricky it wasn't Bellamy.).

It wasn't that he was effective or ineffective. It was that his coaching style was very different.
The coaches are copying each other, they are all playing the same style of game.

Sheens style can work. You just need to make sure enough fundamentals are down , which is our problem.

I noted with interest today that Sheens didn't have the headphones on but was letting Benji make the calls {with some TS input}.
Unfortunately i think Tim is not reading things very well. Not sure where we go with it
