If just a tear and not operated on the stability of knee is heavily compromised, you are correct though you can still get by but I don’t think surgeons wouldn’t recommend it especially under the rigours of NRL.I don't think it necessary is. I had a partial tear and didn't need a reconstruction. I chose to have it done because I knew my confidence would be shot knowing I had already torn half the graft (ACL), but the doctor said with the right strengthening work, half will be ok.

Damn so it's no difference if its a complete rupture or a minor tear, that sucks for the poor guy. Hoping a minor tear just required a clean up and stitch or something and maybe a few months on the sidelines. Another reco really puts his career in jeopardy. Been really critical of his performances recently esp when he was at fullback, but didn't want to see this happen to the poor guy. From what everyone was saying he seemed to start hitting his straps in the second half as well. This sucks.
