Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don't think it necessary is. I had a partial tear and didn't need a reconstruction. I chose to have it done because I knew my confidence would be shot knowing I had already torn half the graft (ACL), but the doctor said with the right strengthening work, half will be ok.

Damn so it's no difference if its a complete rupture or a minor tear, that sucks for the poor guy. Hoping a minor tear just required a clean up and stitch or something and maybe a few months on the sidelines. Another reco really puts his career in jeopardy. Been really critical of his performances recently esp when he was at fullback, but didn't want to see this happen to the poor guy. From what everyone was saying he seemed to start hitting his straps in the second half as well. This sucks.
If just a tear and not operated on the stability of knee is heavily compromised, you are correct though you can still get by but I don’t think surgeons wouldn’t recommend it especially under the rigours of NRL.

I'd say your 100 percent, especially given its the 3rd on the same knee, if it is a minor tear just wonder though if they would opt for a complete reco, redoing everything, or just fix the tear and check everything else still looks ok

Not all doom & gloom. Great article here that provides stats which show that all is not bad with our performances, only luck & finishing!

I agree too that our #1 & #2 priorities must be a controlling halfback with good kicking game & a good ball-playing / running five-eighth. One of these ideally is a dominant goalkicker.
Now we also need a consistent goal kicker as well....

Can't believe that guy is only on 450k. He is in the top 5 fullbacks easily if not top 3 in the comp. He should be on well north of a million a year
A few years back he was struggling. A bunch of my mates are Panthers fans and they used to call him Edwards scissor hands because he always had a couple of dropped balls in him. No doubt the last 2 years though he has become an elite fullback. He is the perfect example of where hard work can get you.

Edwards ,Luai etc etc this thread is just fantasy ,
Finally we get someone who passed the fullback test named Staines and already talk of moving him and changing positions . We need permanent fullback and wingers and let them grow into the job and they will get better and better week by week .The same could be said for two centers except here imo I don't think we have got any that are top class
Weve got a good forward roster and if we could find a couple of top centers and one playmaker then we've got a team

I don't feel sorry for any other club. We are the reigning spooners and haven't won a match for nearly a year. Ever since we brought Sheens back to the club things have gone from bad to worse.
Ever since Sheens left the club things have gone from bad to worse and nothing has changed since his return.

In my opinion Luai is a horrendous nightmare. Brooks can fill the role for less dollars. We need a half who has a great general kicking game including goal kicking. If they can ball play and create tries even better. Moses would have been great but the club has to find an alternative option.

Edwards would be unreal and you'd have to take him but maybe we can develop Staines into a similar player.

From memory you can’t stitch an ACL due to the amount of tension it is under. It feeds from the tibia through the middle of knee joint to femur, it is the major stabiliser of the knee.

Either way he’ll have the best advice being given to him and all options available, I really feel for him but he’s better off looking for long term solutions at his age.

Maybe just give him a bag of cement and get over it 😠

I remember years ago Luke Covell and a Swans player whose name escapes me had a prosthetic ACL put in. Can't remember what the name of the procedure was but they got back within a couple of months I think, not a full year lay off.

Much quicker recovery. Just the long term effects are unknown with this procedure. If I was Adam I would do it. He could be in full training by the end of the year and have a big pre season.
