Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Got to agree that's right up there with the dumbest moves ever made by the tigers but its sure is fierce competition to lead the dumbest moves list
I've got a vague recollection of Hastings being Very Unhappy with Sheens being sacked, and that He wanted Out due to that.

Heard Aaron Woods on radio tonight saying how great it is to be played at Manly and how he followed them as a kid. What a twerp.
💯 twerp... and it's no wonder he did the dirty on/up and left WT.
It now seems to me he always considered himself too good for Us.
Without actually saying as much, he indirectly admitted by saying how great it is now he is finally playing at Manly that he Never really loved playing here and therefore was perfectly happy to throw Us under the bus when the opportunity arose.
What a bloody jerk as well as being a twerp and a cad and a bounder... to put it politely.

Funny you should say that because he is ….

New Manly No.6 Josh Schuster has only played one game with Daly Cherry-Evans in the halves in a starring debut that caught the attention of his idol and opposite number Benji Marshall.

Marshall playing in his last season for the Tigers in 2020 was in awe of Schuster’s ability, labelling his debut the best he had ever seen.

“I’ve got to say - the kid on the other team, it was the best debut I’ve seen from a young kid in my time, ever,” Marshall told Fox League after the game.
A piece of history - like our last win

As skillfull as Schulster is I don’t think he is a player that can lead a team out of the cellar. I also think he just could end up a Owen Cragie clone. Don’t get me wrong, would love him on the roster, but not as our game manager and that’s what we need…a game manager

Tui Lolohea is an interesting one. If he is fit and has his weight under control, he could actually be a superb option at five eighth. At 27 he is in his prime, has spent time playing 7 which has taught him to take on the responsibility of a team, holding him in good stead to return to the NRL as a 6 where he can have a mix of natural flare but also identifying when to play controlled and high percentage plays.

Skill wise he is the ideal 6 we are looking for, it's just a matter of how much has he matured and how fit is he.

Anyone know how he is going in SL and how fit he is?
Arrived in Leeds with a huge gut and major fitness problems. Underachieved and was then sold to Huddersfield. Since arriving under coach Ian Watson he's really turned his career around. Maximised his potential. One of the most creative players in the game and regularly tops the assists table. Whether he's a #1 playmaker or a 1A - I'm not sure. But he's easily good enough ... under the right coaching.

“If you go to a Wests Tigers you could be wasting your time.”

“He’s still young and has only played 41 games.

“If he came and asked me for an opinion, I’d be happy to give him my thoughts on the better clubs to join.”

- Mike Rush, St Helens CEO
Where is this quote from? I've seen Buzz Rothfield claiming Rush has said this. But I can't find any mention of it on the Saints feed. Very uncharacteristic for Mike to be saying anything on Lewis. It's been complete silence for months - which is how he usually handles business.

I don’t get it, both Amone and Schuster are clearly 6s… surely we need a 7 no matter what??? Like, even if Brooks stays, surely it’s to play outside a steady 7??? Maybe there’s other names they’re chasing that we haven’t heard about…

Don't count on it man, the Tigers have had a 'Steady 7' for 3 years of it's existence yeah?
Sheens didn't think he needed one for the majority of his tenure here, And Benji never played with one....

Granted, If you have a dominant 6 - Or a player who's a Sevish 6 (Nicho at Sharks, James Maloney) or 2 x 6's in a dominant side
You'll get away with it (Like we did in 10-11)....

Halves are halves these days,
Dominant 7's aren't as common in the game atm the moment as everyone makes out they are
- Even Moses, He's not out there barking orders, or being a general for the team....
He's out there doing his job, Kicking as required with an elite running game.
His job is easier because they don't have many below average players in the team....

imagine benji been your childhood hero you grow up wanting to play like him then he calls you and ses I can teach you to play like i did come to the tigers where I will allow you to attack how ever you want

You would consider it
All well in good, but we're all 28-34 and past our time.

Unless Benji gives me a call to sign on with his fleshlight

Biggest cautionary tale in Tigers history, will be remembered as a journeyman, instead should have been a one club Tigers legend. Wouldn't have had success but in terms of his life after football he would have been all set.
I could understand leaving and going to a club where he could have won a comp but even when he went to the dogs they looked miles away from it.

If Woods was talking about a new gig with the Oodnadatta Oddballs he'd be spouting the same rubbish. He's lucky anyone picked him up. Did zip at the Dragons according to my brother, a lifelong Drags man!

Re Dolphins... I was thinking why are they successful and we are not.

Klemmer is solid.
Paps is good.
Bateman is good.
Api is good.

None of these players have played together before. The only people we have had are James Tamou and Api... ofcourse Tamou left.

Looking at the dolphins, they have both BRomwich's. They have players that have played a little together. Clearly Wayne Bennett is the supercoach, but we have undervalued players having experience of playing together and it shows.

We have a team that does not feel like anyone has played any football together at all.

Been waiting for this to be mentioned,
Browmwich's, Kaufusi, Brenko all came from Storm
Milford, Isaako, Nikorima, Niu, O'Sullivan, Wallace etc. have all been in and around Broncos at some point or another....
Hammer, Leumelu, Gilbert from Cows

But if you look at the 3 senior players in that Side - Bromwich * 2, Kaufusi - Have played their entire careers winning comps together....

Dunno if it 'Helps' - But surely it doesn't hurt....

I wouldn’t say no to him, he would be an uplift on what we have atm in the halves.

People remember how he was but he has absolutely improved over the last 2yrs, matured is the right word probably.

Tui always had skills/talent he is more consistent atm & looks to have found his rhythm. Age is also ok, would be 29 at start of 23 season so should have years in the legs.

People will use the ESL/NRL size/speed argument but halves are normally the exception with this.

Yep he would’ve been our version of Nathan Hindmarsh and would’ve been respected for being a one clubber just the same. Now, he’s got no gf ring and is not respected by a single fan of any of the clubs he’s played at.
Way to ruin a career Dora.

Thanks for that. Sounds like he has creativity we crave, but would be a risky signing. It has taken a long time for him to find some consistency which is concerning.
