Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Unfortunately for those that remember the 2000’s Sheens he moved Benji to half as it was his belief the 6&7 weren’t any different on the field
In fairness appears he has learnt and certainly tinkering more so far in this stint. Bar Brooks @ 7 but im 99.9% sure he has no authority to drop him or change his number from above.
Has also mentioned in press conferences about chasing a controlling half (whether #6 or #7).

Think the controlling half just needs to be the dominant authority in the team (Munster, Nicho) just as there playing 6 doesn't mean there not the leader steering the ship.

I wouldn't read much into the Schuster & Amone story apart from that the Club has made enquiries with their management.

The way this likely unfolded is that the journalist Fatima was talking to Mario Tartak (manager of Schuster & Amone) and asked if the WTs have made enquiries about any halves on his books. And he probably replied honestly saying yes they have enquired about halves on my books & Fatima ran with Schuster & Amone.

I would be shocked if WTs haven't been in contact with every player management firm enquiring about halves off contract or possibly looking for a new contract. Due diligence!

I know there is a huge difference between our talent and the Roosters. However, Walker looks set to be dropped to reserve grade due to back to back losses. Our #7 survives over and over again with how many losses? Shows a difference in expectation between a successful club and losertown.
brooks would of been in esl half a decade ago if at any other club, don't let the delusional say otherwise

I think that's a decent replacement for Talau in terms of depth and playing second string to Naden. specialist right centre, solid defensively and can find the line. left edges are where the magic happens, the right you just need solid attackers with defensive upside. besides Bateman on that edge creates plenty for us if people are worried about strike.
We need to start buying players that walk into our starting 13. We have enough average players already.

Tui is not the answer.
He's still fat .
He's going pretty much the same as he did with us. He does some things that look good then he'll follow up with a brain explosion.
If he's the answer we need to ask a different question.
Agree - SL suits him down to a tee. I have never rated him - he is lazy in defense and plays off the cuff footy which is fine to some degree. SL is the perfect platform for him and others like Drinkwater, Miller, Lino etc - average career reserve grade players who shine and make a career in SL.

Reigning NSW Cup Player of the Year Kayal Iro was at his destructive best in Newtown’s 40-18 win over the Roosters. Iro set up a try, got a linebreak, a linebreak assist, seven tackle busts and ran for 221 metres. That’s just the norm for the 23-year-old, who is on a development deal with the Sharks. If the Eels are on the hunt for an ‘x-factor’ outside back, perhaps Iro could be their man. He’d have a much clearer path to first grade at Parramatta too.

Connor Tracey was a late addition at fullback and left his mark on the game, getting a try assist, three linebreaks, two tackle busts and 141 running metres

2 players that we should be making a priority on getting but knowing that we will not.
These 2 players could transform our team and they have pathways blocked at Cronulla.

If the Dragons sack Griffin and Hunt wants out I'm definitely all in on that. Even at 33 he's still got a few good years left in him. Dragons would probably cover some of his freight too depending on how much he agitates for a move.

Say what you will about his age, but he's a quality player and him and Koroisau together will get us around the park well and scoring the points that we should have been with the field position we've had.

Yep, and Walker is a great goalkicker as well, our half has had numerous sub standard games over 10 years but he is first picked week after week, and yes walker made a couple of errors in the last couple of games, but how many games has he contributed in winning, on the other side of things in 10 years how many games has Brooks won games for us, a field goal last year? Its been a while.

Make walker an offer.

Roosters aren't letting him go unfortunately. Still only 20. Keary will be gone end of this year, if not next. An awkward fit at the moment because Keary's running game has left him but next concussion/injury, Walker's back in the 7.

Only 3 years to go folks 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

The Tigers are yet to win a game under Sheens this season and the team has once again been hammered for dire on-field performances.

But the veteran coach has pleaded for patience.

"We're still going to be building for the next two years," he said.

"We'll be in that position (to be competitive) in, I reckon, three years' time."
