Moses does those kicks behind the defence all the time and gets 4-6 points or a line drop out.
Brooks has done it once without kicking into someone's feet in god knows how many games. Why doesn't he practice it at training every week ? Coach? Confused in the heat of the battle? Not in position? Forgets, kicks it dead?
My other pet hate, when they get a penalty and kick to the side-line it lands in the stands and gains about 15m. They fart around, talk about whatever, take their time, but not concentrate on kicking it further downfield. They then have to slug it out for another 15m where the should have kicked it out in the first place. Frustrates me.

You do realize that he has already kicked a 40/20 this year. His kicks do not 99% go dead or hit the legs of the defenders. The previous game just as an example he kicked on the 5th in the attacking zone and Bateman stuffed up grounding it.

He has also played significantly more than 1 good game. He has been our most creative player and one of our best this season.

The first thing is we need to view the situation accurately and not with the stupid hyperbole on this forum.

Then you have to consider his salary and other options.

Played both Union and League at school and beyond.

I know it wouldn't happen but Joel Caine yesterday mentioned with Matty Johns, Robinson should look at loaning out Sam Walker to wests tigers, saying he would get better experience in nrl rather than reserve grade and Sheens would like that style of halfback.

I wouldn't say no to a loan deal for rest of 2023

My guess is the coaches have mistakenly tried to shield him from his critics. Perhaps the same reason Api didn’t give him that kick at goal? But he appears to be injury free now and Benji probably told him for the first time this season he’s the general out there.
I really don’t know, all I know is he’s been getting better each game this season after a long layoff and with no preseason with new teammates.

He played great last week. But he played dreadful every other game for the past 4 years prior

I really don’t know, all I know is he’s been getting better each game this season after a long layoff and with no preseason with new teammates.

He has been really good this season. I think him and Api have been our best two players but Api in my opinion has clearly been our best player. The thing is he also is the scapegoat from fans who want an easy target for why we are so bad.

It'll be interesting if they offer him another contract.

Personally I think as a secondary half he is worth another contract but I wouldn't be rushing into it. In some ways I think it's a meaningless issue. We need a gun half at the club. I don't have any confidence Brooks can be a marquee player.

Galvin wasn't great in the Parra semi but was probably the best five-eighth in SG Ball this year, so would probably have him somewhere in the top three or four.

Would have Feledy somewhere too and I'm more of a Sukkar fan than most.

Ali Karnib is an outstanding wing/centre prospect too.

Regarding halfbacks, I agree though, not 100% sure if there's a clear-cut, guaranteed future NRL #7 already there in the system, although Conti seems to be the one with the most promise.

Would need to see more of Oliver Lawry (who's just returning from injury now) to get more of a read on his future potential but the club rates him highly (did a few sessions with NRL over pre-season).

Alex Conti, pending we keep him, is the long term halfback and heir to Scott Prince's throne.

Yes he did, kicked 2 in that game against panthers, but what else did he do in previous 9 years?

In Nine and a quarter years.

Please tell me what clubs have shown any interest in the BOY. and dont say Knights, that was not to get brooks, that was to get rid of Klemmer. And now Klemmer gone they are not after Brooks.

I'm not saying he has been great but he has had more than one good game this year and I'm convinced a lot more than that in his career. He has been one of our best this season.

Newcastle definitely wanted him and it wasn't to get rid of Klemmer.

I'm not sure if we will offer him a contract next season or if any other club will but I assume he'll get a gig if he wants to play on. Then again some players do just disappear.

The problem with the Brooks bashers is they are too over the top. It's not about Brooks being a marquee player because he isn't and I can't see that changing. We need to determine if Brooks is one of the two best halves we can put on the field and is his contract cost to us reasonable.

Yep. The club needs to sign 2 top line halves if brooks isn’t in the top 2.

I don't have a problem with Brooks going but we need two better halves.
