Appointment of Scott Fulton to Wests Tigers

They did it on purpose. No leaks until after the event. I don't see why Sheens deserves to have everything the club does run past him. He is on good dollars and he hasn't been performing.
What a ridiculous and immature comment - I can only assume that you have never had anything close to a management role because you wouldn't get far playing off your key human resource assets in that petty manner!

Speaking of "hasn't been performing" - based on what? Your sample size for his current role is the opening rounds of this season alone!!

Meanwhile you believe the perennial non-performers for the club for many years in Pascoe and the media tart Chairman are in their rights to make this decision without consulting with the football department!!??!!

What a fricking joke - those two clowns have a long history of poor decision making and you think these proven amateurs should continue to do so without working with the staff they themselves employed to manage and lead football operations!!

Worst post of 2023!!

Thanks god you're not in charge of our cap. A million bucks for a youngster with a handful of games, and none in the NRL? No-ones paying him close that amount!!
We are not the roooters , who would pay $600,000 we are the wooden spooners and need to get of the bottom

Even if Tim Sheens is a bit miffed, why does anyone care?

Sheens has no more than 40 or so matches left as Head Coach and he's won 1 game in 8 attempts in 2023. I fully respect the guy for everything he's done for the club, but also if Scott Fulton is truly a long-term benefit, then I'm all for the club getting the deal done as expediently as possible. I don't care at all if Sheens was consulted or not consulted, it's a non-story that has no impact on the first-grade performances.

The real question isn't whether or not Sheens or Ronald McDonnell loves the new hire, the real question is whether or not the WT Board have any idea what they are doing and whether Scott Fulton is a good acquisition for Tigers. It's not the "how" of Fulton, it's the "why" that matters.

No. I was a manager at a big corporate and this stuff happened all the time. I'm fine with criticism as well and I don't think I'm immature.

This does sound though extremely immature. How are they proven amateurs ? Why go on with such a spiel about Lee and Pascoe ? Do you know them ? Have you worked directly for them ? Why didn't you make it work ?

And you support Pascoe and Lee in making unilateral decisions about the football department despite their history of poor and ignorant football related decisions?

I don't think the how or the why matter that much. I think what matters is how well Fulton performs in the recruiting role. Does our recruitment improve or does it go backwards ?

Their failure is self evident and if you can't see it.....

Meanwhile you use a sample size of 8 games regarding Sheens.

I think you are intentionally ignoring the fact that player recruitment should all be signed off by the coach who will inherit the players into his squad.

I'll talk about what I know rather than what I imagine. I don't know that they have such a history that you are talking about. I don't have inside knowledge of the clubs operations.

I know from working in a big corporate environment and being a manager on massive IT projects (100 million dollars) that decisions like this happen all the time and not everyone is going to be happy.

I'm not sure about this issue. It's not so simple. Cleary appeared to have the right to manage recruitment and he stuffed it.

Personally I think there needs to be a decent process in place and the coach shouldn't be the sole person having the say on recruitment.

I'm not sure what the best practice is but I remember watching a movie on I think it was NFL and the manager did all the recruitment and the coach was meant to just coach.

In the context of my limited knowledge of best practice recruiting procedures within professional sport and my understanding of corporate governance I don't think this decision is so poor but time will tell.

To me there is a bit of a difference. Sheens didn't do well last season and we aren't doing well this season. He might turn it around but the reality is things aren't looking exceptionally good right now.

I'm not convinced by your self-evident statement. It's cool. You are entitled to your opinion.

Dunno if I'd want Lee H being my lawyer. Anyone think the guy puts his foot in his mouth a fair bit, especially as the owner of a successful law firm?

I didn't have expectations of him but if I did, I would have expected him to verbally negotiate problematic issues a bit better.

Very interesting, the biggest news from the Tigers this week was Fulton being hired without Sheens consultation. Just finished watching the round 10 coaching insider interview, not one question about it. Considering the media generally stick the boot in whenever they can it's very strange. Reckon they were told before the interview it won't be discussed, which would be strange if Sheens was OK with it. Pretty ominous imo.

One explanation would be for legal reasons. Let's hope its not that. I.e. Sheens treating it as breach of contract.

My guess it was someone within the board decision. Lee is the spokesman, pascoe signs the paper work.

Don't think Lee and pascoe conspired together to poach him don't think they have the nous.
