Pretty disappointing that that we supposedly need him for this weekend.
Blore is more than capable.And if Sheens has such huge wraps on Matamua or Tumeth he should be given them as much FG time as possible.

Hastings,Aloia,Matterson,Moses all great for us.Not sure who is responsible for them leaving with no return (Klemmer for Hastings) but they they should have their contract terminated immediately.

Though from a roster standpoint it seems to make sense (if true that we have him now as a bench player on starter money).

Most likely promote someone to the top 30 who has not even played a game in the top grade yet.

Would love to be proved wrong and actually lure a top notch signing in a position we need improvement in.

Joe Ofahengaue’s mid-season switch from the Tigers to the Eels have been blocked after his current club informed him his services were needed in Round 12.

Despite reportedly undergoing a medical with Parramatta doctors, the 27-year-old won’t be able to depart the club until Tigers bosses approve the move according to the SMH.

Ofahengaue is contracted with the merger club until the end of 2025 and the Eels were reportedly preparing to sign him on a two-and-a-half year deal.

It is understood Ofahengaue and his agent agreed to terms on the deal with the Eels on Wednesday night and he was told he was free to leave.

He even headed to the Eels’ Kellyville base the following morning to meet his potential new coaches and was preparing to suit up for their NSW Cup clash with South Sydney on Friday night.

According to a source within the Tigers club, a recruitment and retention meeting on Wednesday night, however, decided Ofahengaue’s release would be delayed until after the weekend.

If he takes the field this weekend for the Tigers against the Cowboys Ofahengaue will have to complete another medical to make his cross-town switch.

The deal reportedly won’t be confirmed until next week and any injuries could see Ofahengaue remain at the Tigers.

Brad Arthur has been desperately searching for middle forwards following Reagan Campbell-Gillard’s long-term groin injury.

If he acquired Ofahengaue’s services this week, the middle forward reportedly would have been rushed into the Eels’ NSW Cup side.

Parramatta also lost Marata Niukore (Warriors), Oregon Kaufusi (Sharks), Isaiah Papali’I (Tigers) and Ray Stone Dolphins) at the end of the 2022 season.

Joe Ofahengaue’s proposed mid-season move to the Eels has been delayed despite him undergoing a medical at Parramatta, with the Tigers insisting any potential release would be done on their terms.

The former State of Origin forward’s immediate move to the Tigers’ western Sydney neighbours unravelled on Thursday when the club told him he would be required for Saturday’s clash against the Cowboys, which doubles as Luke Brooks’ 200th NRL game.


The Eels were preparing for Ofahengaue to sign a two-and-a-half year contract with the club on Thursday, and even went as far as having him checked by the club doctor. There was even a chance Ofahengaue would have played for the Eels’ NSW Cup team on Friday.

But the Tigers put a halt to any immediate switch and the deal now runs the risk of falling over if Ofahengaue is injured in any match this weekend.

According to Tigers sources speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the confidential nature of the talks, a recruitment and retention meeting on Wednesday night determined Ofahengaue wouldn’t be released before the weekend.

But it didn’t stop the 27-year-old from heading to Kellyville for a medical the next day and meeting key Eels staff.

It’s likely the two clubs won’t revisit the final release until early next week as Parramatta desperately search for middle forwards. Reagan Campbell-Gillard is spending an extended stint on the sidelines.

Ofahengaue will have to undergo another medical if he plays this weekend before he can join Brad Arthur’s side. He is under contract at the Tigers until the end of 2025.

I find it all amusing, bit of payback. Stuff the Eels around as much as possible, why help another team out? We are reportedly a mill under the cap, its not like we are in desperate need of the cash. They could have let Stef go and mucked around with the Tigers not giving 2 shits about helping us out and let Stef play in reggies instead of coming to us early.
 
Should have happened this way in the first case. Not named for Eels this week so may as well play first grade for tigers than nsw cup for eels. Don’t see the drama. Shows me tigers want to win otherwise they would give Matamua or Blore a chance this week.
 
I don't see the problem. We release Offa if or when it suits us, and if that means next week or in 6 weeks, so be it.

Highly predictable that Fox calls it "an embarrassing backflip" but SMH reports "Tigers determined [he] wouldn't be released before the weekend".

But if it suits you to get your knickers in a twist about the timing of Joe O joining Parramatta, go for your life, it seems some people just can't help themselves especially when there are not enough wins on the board.
 
So poor old Joe gets his glorious debut for the slime balls reserve grade side put back a week or so. Don't you just feel for the poor guy and especially for the grubs he will soon be joining. I know I do.
 
I don't understand this release at all unless we are signing something quality imminently. For those suggesting it will be ideal for our cap, I'm pretty sure we're not even remotely close to spending it all anyway so that shouldn't be an issue.. Joe is a first grader whether you wanna admit it or not, and our team as of now is worser off with him gone imo..
 
I don't see the embarassing part in it. If there was no SIGNED release, he is ours. More embarassing is Joe O or Parra's management team approaching someone who already has 2 years to run on his contract- Tigers definitely didn't start the convo- they did.

For once, we didn't do anything wrong regardless of the media spin. Suck it up everyone.
