Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It’s not the fact Frizell is not a good player, he is not a current NSW representative without still being a high quality player, but good teams need the right balance.
I think you will find our edge back rowers Papali’i and Bateman are the only pairing not to have made a single line break this season.
I think they have both been playing well, but no line breaks tells you there is a problem.
Frizell won’t be making any line breaks either at this stage of his career. To get the balance of the team right, it’s essential either Bateman or Papali’i move to 13 and we include an edge back rower with the speed and athleticism to make line breaks.
I don’t think Blore is that player either, but I don’t want to lose him as he will be very valuable off the bench with his hard powerful carries.
I think the backrow issue you raised is directly related to the quality of service they are getting from the halves, Ice had a stack of line breaks running off Moses the last 2 years, no surprise that hasn't continued here.
Halves need fixing first, then a lot of the other issues disappear.

Wakeham goal kicking is very good and better than AD's.
But he (so far) did not make even a single line break, no assistances, his attacking kicks are probably the worst of any HB in the NRL.

By saying that, they must be replaced with a better players ONLY, not just 20% better!

Mitchell Pearce instrumental in 4 or 5 of Catalans tries in their win over Wigan on the weekend:

Also Lachlan Lam in career best form for Leigh according to coach & father Adrian, off-contract & still harbouring ambitions to play NRL in a post-game report I read.

Only prob I could see with Lam is how he would perform under Australian media scrutiny and not playing under his father might hit his form. He might become uncomfortable / unhappy.

Hearing Super League Club Leeds are set to offer Luke Brooks a lucrative deal. Understand that if this transfer 100% happens, Wests Tigers will make a play for either Blake Austin or Aidan Sezer in which both are off contract. Also with the the spare money Tigers will make an official offer to Knights star Tyson Frizell as his contract expires at the end of this season.

7 Sezar
6 Latu Fainu

...?

Seems like we’re putting the feelers out for both Fainu and Schuster…. manly can’t and won’t keep both

Really liking the way we’re attacking our recruitment lately, I’d be very happy with either
I have to pick u up on ur statement, apart from what we signed last year and just before the season, what have we signed , we have punted joffa and looks like blore is out the door , so what have we signed 🥴🥴🥴

Austin or Sezer for Brooks. Can't see the upside personally.

So without an offer being made to Brooks, WTs are going to go after two ESL halves past their prime and with the "spare" change make an "official" offer to Frizell? Who writes this stuff?

I'm not confident Brooks would want to relocate overseas.
I reckon he will stay but on less money
As @pawsandclaws1 mentioned, tigers should pass both esl halves and go hard for frizell instead
Makes more sense

A player who is off-contract next season that no one is really talking about is Ezra Mam.

You would think he is unlikely to leave the Broncos as would likely get a big payrise as his renewal would likely coincide with Reynolds' retirement.

But worth us exploring!?!? Not dissimilar to Dylan Brown (player type & ability) at the same age.

Unless we've given heavily backloaded deals to guys Klemmer/Api/Ice/Bateman we should have tons of cap space, especially with Ofahengaue being moved on. It shouldn't prevent us from getting any player that's available and multiple high quality ones. Brooks alone is $1m off the cap which we haven't replaced. Ofahengaue is at least $500k that we had pencilled in for next year that we've no longer got to pay.

Under contract through 2024 - available to negotiate with post-Nov 1.

I rate Mam. But is he an organiser or a quality finisher of sets? I'm not sure Mam/Brooks is a pairing that works.
