LIVE GAME Round 14 vs. Raiders

Live Game Discussion
My biggest gripe with the call was both Sutton and Gee in the bunker did not know the rule. They said Brooks stopped so he was entitled to be bowled over. He is 100% entitled to stop and with the kick heading once again straight at the post he was probably covering the possibility that the ball would rebound his way, especially after the other try.

I agree all teams get crook calls, but it would appear the bottom teams get more than their fair share. Anyway once again the Sutton boys screw up big time

The strange thing is, if Brooks was in the ingoal area shepherding the ball over the dead ball line, he would be entitled to be bowled over. You see it every week. If the ball then touches the shoved player before going dead it’s deemed fair game and a drop out.

Move the play back out of the ingoal area and it’s deemed an illegal shove on a shepherding player. I can see why there is confusion.

My biggest issue is it seems to happen to us so often and barely ever in our favour. You don’t really see calls like that go against teams like roosters storm etc.

Except you do.

Roosters less so, but they got screwed over vs Panthers last year in many calls. Robbo blew up in the presser and Annesley basically conceded they got a lot of dud calls.

Storm got screwed over in the Broncos game a few weeks ago. They still managed to win, but from memory they were dudded 2-3 legitimate tries (falcon try called a knock on, Olam shoulder charged penalty try denied) and the Broncos were awarded illegal tries (marker grabbed and player runs straight past him to score). Annesley admitted as much in his presser.

It does happen to “big teams”, you probably just don’t notice it

100% it does and as I mentioned earlier, it sometimes gets forgotten as these sides usually manage to overcome a bad decision.
I would argue that the Roosters in particular have a poor reputation with refs as it pertains to foul play. They have had a lot of thugs play for them over the years and it has earned them some sin binnings and penalties that other sides may not have copped. People like JWH and Radley cannot tackle any higher than breast height without a ref questioning the legality of the tackle. These two have copped a few penalties over the years for what were legitimate tackles purely based upon referee bias.

Yeh it does happen to big teams 100% mate I agree. But it’s mainly to other big teams as uve just mentioned. I can’t remember the last time we have had a big decision go our way against a top team, it’s probably happened but I honestly can’t remember. End of the day though we shouldn’t put our selves in positions were a single call can cost us a game we have to be much better brother

Brooks should have been screaming at the ref to get it checked
Why wasn’t he? Api was there too, why wasn’t he going off?
Clearly they weren’t sure it was an illegal play at the time and therefore it is incorrect to state that this decision cost us the game.

If you're talking the push in the Back....
Brooks did get up and appeal to the ref (Wouldn't have screamed at him - He's not Gutho or Moses)
but he certainly went to him om it....

You beat me to the Gutho and Moses bit.

Just put a gag on them and cut the scums arms off so they can't throw them up in the air all game long.

For any Walking Dead fans, I’m picturing Michonne’s two “pet” zombies Mike and Terry from when she was first introduced to the series.

I saw him put his arms out in protest. If he felt strongly about it he had to chase the ref and state his case. They should have demanded it be looked at.

Players shouldnt have to do anything of the sort. Especially at NRL level with the bunker and video replays.

It was looked at - And discussed between the refs apparently...

They made the wrong decision.
I don’t believe them.
The ref didn’t officially award the try with the instruction the bunker check the interaction with Brooks in the lead up. There was no video scrutiny from all different angles and in slow motion etc…it wasn’t considered.
