I just watched the 360 segment (I know) about Brooks and they all thought our offer for Brooks was about his true worth. So we can all stop arguing about his salary the rugby league oracles have spoken

We don't have any halves prospects over the age of 17.
You'd rather lose every match for the rest of the season and make ourselves an extremely unattractive option for players? We have to pick our best available players until perhaps the last week or two.
Wakeham and Camroux would be our worst ever halves pairing and we'd probably lose every match by at least 40 points...
Yes - Never thought for a minute Moses was ever going to allow Brooks to sign off on the first offer of a significantly reduced contract at this club, whether he stays or not. What will be interesting is the noise he tries to generate around interest from other clubs. I expect to hear leaks of offers and interest coming from everywhere - how much of that is true will remain to be seen largely on where he ends up.

The funny thing Brooks would have got a fat inflated contract if we had signed MM as Issac Moses would have used his contract to get inflated deals for his other clients. In a way Issac Moses has sold Brooks up the river

Just throwing up some ideas for discussion.. looking at realistic options for 24-25, halves and a outside back seem to be a priority.. leaving out trindal and Metcalf as it's unlikely their clubs wouldn't let them go (I know we wouldn't).. 7-TeMairi Martin.. Smart, good short kicking game, calming influence, ex tiger.. 6- Conner Tracy.. played in the halves all his juniors, very quick, knows the concept of a 3 on 2 🙄.. 4/5 Lachlan Miller.. Olympic 7's background, elusive, fast, great backup for Bula.. then hopefully some of our Matts and SG Ball juniors ( large,Conti, Matai etc) might've matured enough to be first graders..

TMM has a very limited kicking game. Not sure if Tracey is much of a kicker as he has been stuck in the centres but I wouldn't be confident of him being released after what happened with Dykes/Miller this year.
The most likely contracted 7 I think we could get, with a kicking game and some NRL experience, is Toby Sexton.
There are a heap of untried obtainable 6s playing decent Reggie's footy. Maybe look at someone like Atkinson (Sharks/Jets) or Robinson (South's Logan), might work out but wouldn't have overly high hopes.

Mate, we dodged a FREaKING bullet .. 11 years of Brooks choking whenever the game is on the line !! Stuff that .. I’m glad he’s gone .. happiest ive been in years ..

OMG .. plenty of better players playing Q cup halves and KOE cup .. brooks has played us into 10 years of no finals .. stats do not lie in this case

Can't see any club with halves in the mix for origin releasing any genuine back up players until the origin period is finished. Parra, Sharks, Dragons for example. That takes us up past the June 30 deadline to sign players for this year. I am so worried about where this year is headed and what impact that might have on a) player morale and b) potential signings for next year.
Roster management (when it comes to the halves) has been so so poor this year, and as a consequence this season is yet again a write off.

I think? Atkinson just resigned by Cronulla that's why I thought Tracey might be looking for an opportunity.. haven't seen much of Sexton since he was dropped.. no nothing about Robertson but I'll keep an eye out.. hopefully better than Pellow.. Fulton needs to earn his money by sounds of it..

It's interesting that as soon as Brooks announced he was going to market, most of the clubs in question distanced themselves.
That's not to say they aren't interested of course, but I think it does tell you that he's not going to swan into a new team on a big salary, because they know he's not negotiating from a position of power.

I think something has to give at the Warriors and we need to monitor that situation closely. Johnson, Martin, Harris-Tavita, Metcalf and Volkman gunning for two spots. Metcalf and Volkman would be ideal and both are originally from Sydney, so there is a chance we can snag one if we apply pressure. Metcalf a free agent come November 1, he's the one I'd be trying for.
similar situation at the Dragons with Amone, Sullivan and Hunt. Amone becomes a free agent on November 1 and if signed for 2025 they may be inclined to give an early release. Hunt's situation has been spoken about, but it is a little difficult.
Gold Coast have three halves around the same age in Sexton, Thomas Weaver and Tanah Boyd, plus Foran. I'm not sure if any of them are the answer but it's certainly worth a look.
agree on Connor Tracey but unsure on his situation. few rumours regarding him heading to Parramatta, but we can offer him a role in the halves which they cannot. would love him at WT. very natural eyes up footballer that just needs time in a regular position to develop into a classy first grader.
Ethan Sanders and Latu Fainu have been spoken about extensively but if we sign one then they have to be paired with an experienced half. very testing times at WT.

this is what I've thought from the outset. Isaac Moses 101. only difference is this time that our dear Chairman has decided to rear his head.
I'll be very surprised if Brooks leaves even despite all the fanfare. Townsville isn't quite Leeds but it's a long way away from home. a number of clubs have already said they're not looking at him which only strengthens WT's bargaining position. I think they might be able to extract a few more dollars out of us, but ultimately I think it's likely he stays.
