Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I’ll throw a name out there I’m not 100% on my thoughts on it but curious to see what everyone thinks though.

Luai is free to talk to clubs November 1st.

We also now have no 6 or 7 at the club with Brooks going. With all his mates leaving and getting upgraded like Leniu and Crita. Edwards apparently due for a big upgrade as well around the 900k-1m mark with the cap increase can Penrith offer him a good deal? Martin coming off contract too he’s gonna get upgraded plus Cleary, Yeo and JFH making good coin.

We have some former Penrith boys here too and he’s also a western Sydney boys. All I’ll say is he’s still only 26 and imo I’ve always seen that he gets up for the big games and that’s. quality that is rare. Love him or hate him he can play footy and is a SOS rep. If he’s available would yous want him?

I reckon he is worth every cent people say he’s nothing without Cleary but go and watch the games cleary isn’t there he kills it
I am a fan always have liked players people love to hate. Can't see him leaving Penrith anytime soon while ever they maintain a spine and a nucleus of players that will keep them camped thereabouts.

We obviously need a 6 and 7 but also need a genuine 13, at least one more outside back and a few extra quality forwards.
I dont know what the plans are for the halves. I think the best we can do is two of Brooks, Lam, Sexton and Weaver with only the first 2 currently free to negotiate.
If Trey Mooney isn't extended before November I'd be chasing him pretty hard as the 13. I think he is by far the best young 13 around. Came through at Cabramatta so may want to return home. If Matamua does kick on who I think might make it as a lock but not much use elsewhere Mooney can play anywhere in the pack.
The best outside back coming off contract I think is Taine Tuaupiki. He's a fullback but I think he could do well anywhere in the back 5. Would give him an off season in the centres and if he doesn't win the spot over Naden he'd be next man up for any of the backs.

Assuming Brooks isn't about to surprise us & re-sign down the road, the direction the club goes in the halves is getting more interesting/desperate by the day.

One name I've not seen brought up very often is that of Drew Hutchison of the Roosters. He's mostly a utility at the Roosters, but he's a Half/5-8 from the Dragons as a junior who played a lot pf Aus Schoolboys.

Don't get me wrong- I don't think he is the second coming of Benji or Prince. However, he does remind me a LITTLE of Jackson Hastings. I believe he would provide a steady influence, at worst. You could play him in either role in the halves, and you know the effort is there. At the Roosters they compare him to Mitch Aubersson- he fills whatever role they need him to play. That kind of selfless attitude could actually work for the Tigers. If you could combine him with either a good running option, or a good kicking option, you might get better than expected service until some of the younger players are ready to TAKE the job from him.

I expect Wakeham will re-sign. If you add Doueihi to the mix (later next season), maybe a Jack Cogger (kicking game) or Blake Taaffe (running game) & someone like board-favourite Volkmann, coupled with our forwards & Bula- I don't think we are 'worse', in the least.

Well results wise the benchmark is low.
Anyone who isn’t a high flyer will have low expectations.

But lets be real if we want the team to move up the ladder and play finals any of those names mentioned in the last paragraph aren’t the answer to make that happen.

Iam getting rather tired with the idea we are facing yet another building year or two. Although we have to be realistic , and without a quality NRL standard 6 and 7 we are going nowhere. The problem those players are not available so it’s either write a few years off and go with some stop gap solutions or bite the bullet and go down the rookie path.

A lot here are banking on guys like Large being our saviour in a few years, how many rookie no7 have hit the NRL running. Guys like DCE, Hunt and Reynolds took three or four years of NRL to get up to speed on weekly basis

Drew Hutchison is another slow half like Wakeham.

Fair enough, would have been interesting to see if Wayne could have done any better than Madge with all those ridiculous contracts. Hiding to nothing that job anyway.
Reckon Wayne would have been able to move a few of them on. Him, Gus and a few other coaches just have the ability to come in and tap blokes on the shoulder and bring new blokes into the squad.
