You could be right but Cameron Smith was still worth that right up until he retired in his late 30s. If anything, Hunt is getting better as he gets older. I'd be happy to give him two years.

Only promising sign for us from Ben Hunt asking for a release is if he does leave and join a Queensland club, there will likely be another half shafted to make way for him.

What you ask is exactly what ive said, it made no difference to brooksy's game, contract renewal is what has made him play a lot better than he had for the last few years with guaranteed money, and now he needs new contract he Is playing a lot better than at any other time in last few years.
I do beleive that if you are paying over $1 ML a season for any player.
Then you should be getting the value for money like other clubs get from there ML Dollar players, otherwise they get rid of them.

LOL, you didn't answer any questions I asked at all. I agree that over a mil per year you should be getting more than what we have seen from Brooks thus far. But, we haven't been paying him over a million any season but this one and other clubs who provide no support to their million dollar player get similar results to what we've got, see Ash Taylor

Bit of player movement being discussed but apart from Frizzell we don’t seem to be mentioned anywhere. Makes me wonder who we are chasing.
Thought Averillo would have been worth a crack at- he’s got some skills and pace and is versatile.
Apart from NRL quality Halves, we also need a prop, an edge forward and a centre at least, to get us through the next 2 seasons competitively.

Sums up my concerns we hear of activity everywhere except possible incoming to us .Any activity from Fulton ?

Do we all realise Ben Hunt turns 34 in March 2024 ?
He’s had a great career, but his best games have been as a hooker for Qld, he’s had plenty of shockers as a halfback over the years.
Anyone who truly believes he’s worth over a million dollars per season as a 35 and 36 year halfback is off their heads.

He is around the same age as Reynolds, DCE, Foran, Johnson, Townsend, Keary etc.

Rep players these days get paid especially after the cap hike & halves - clubs like the Titans, Bulldogs, Dragons will give him $1m a year for 2-3yrs.

I’m torn one hand he is miles better than what we have & do think he would be a great mentor to balance a younger 5/8 + Bula out with Api. Would be short term but over losing week in week out. On the other side would like us to just get some kids in and go. Never know they might click and take us to the finals. The quality nrl halves pool are getting older moving into their last contracts or are stable at their existing club so something is going to have to give over the next 2-3yrs anyway.

Ben Hunt news boys: Apparently he has been looking to get out of the dragons since last year to the point Redcliffe had him on their target boards as early as September 2022

No matter who got named Coach Ben was always going to leave sheens & co have been looking at the Ben Hunt situation pretty closely and Dragons are happy to let him walk if the deal is right
