Tallyn Da Silva #270

Needs to start playing with intelligence if going to be the second coming of farah.

He's talked in articles about what type of hooker he wants to be but needs to start thinking up top if going to do anything. Hopefully first game nerves

It's the first time in his whole footy career, he's had to play in a shit side.

As someone that spends just as much time following the clubs junior reps likewise the nrl side, nights like tonight, seeing a genuine local junior, who has been in the club system since he was 13, debut in front of a hill packed with his friends and family, is about as good as it gets. Hopefully we see more of you. Well done.

Also style has a lot to do with it, but WT looked quicker and more dangerous with TDS on the field over Simpkin.

Roughly 26 mins for TDS

3 runs for 25m
14 tackles (1 missed)
Why are you stealing NBWT tweets? 😏

Can you point out where he showed distinct lack of intelligence last night?
He stuffed up a pass that hit Bateman - that’s just lack of familiarity.
He had a grubber ricochet off his leg - that’s unlucky
He died with the ball on the last - there was an opportunity and he took it. This may be an example but hardly a hanging offence.
Generally though, he threw quick clean ball to his halves when they needed the ball and made some good darts from dummy half. He also had the vision to back up a break and position himself in traffic.
He didn’t play unintelligently, he played like an enthusiastic 18 year old.

For the most part fine for an 18 year old's debut. A bit clunky, but of course that can be put down to a lack of familiarity with the team around him.

Something that did stick out to me though is he threw quite a few balls without a spiral out of dummy half. It's not the worst thing in the world but in a day and age where basically every player is used to catching spiral passes at first receiver, it could be something which produces errors out of the person catching it going forward. Maybe it was just a nerves thing in his first game, but it's the only real issue I saw.

Exactly Right, Tigers fans wonder why all our best talent leave just look at these dead brain comments on the kid. Everyone thinks youth gain development playing KOE they really dont its light years behind NRL. The one good thing Tim has done this year is bleed the kids. Tigers fans are never happy

Agree, just making reference to an article he did previously indicated he is a real thinker of the game. Hoping too was just nerves yesterday looks like threw thinking out the window.

Didn't think he'd be that nervous

It’s now 9.35pm and just found your post. Very prophetic !!’
Yeah spewing I forgot to back Twal. I realised about 5 mins in, I been backing him to score most weeks for since his 50th game. Not happy!
And what a crappy try, the ball fell out of the sky and he fell over.

He was excellent IMO.

Showed genuine confidence.

A couple of passes were out of synch with runners, but that is to be expected when he has not played with them all season.

He is going to be a star and future captain. Him and Kit will, hopefully, lead the club for a decade.

I'm sure his instructions were very very basic... He didn't need to do too much just make his tackles, hopefully no errors and work well with first receiver... He got 20 odd mins he didn't need to think too much and I'm sure the coaches made sure of that
He didn't look nervous to me he looked quite comfortable and confident
He went well
Origin and test veterans make errors pointing out a rookie on debuts errors achieves nothing

2 months ago he was playing SG Ball…and he’s a year young for that.
Such a huge step up in a short time span would have your head spinning.
He was quoted before the season started saying that his goal for the year was to secure a spot in the Jersey Flegg team and to possibly get a NSW Cup debut later in the year.

And that's from a kid who seems really confident in his abilities.

Even he didn't expect to get anywhere near here this early.

Pressure like this is what he doesn't need

I think a few are overlooking how unique him playing last night is.
He isn’t a winger…middle of the field where the animals and absolute tough nuts hang out.
