Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He'll spend all their money, they will improve for a while, then he'll get the sack and they'll spend a few seasons trying to undo the damage.

He doesn’t need to rebuild and the cap is already spent. He just has to coach for 2yrs. If he gets them to click the Titans will be a serious force for a while - they have all the right skills across the park mixed with speed & youth.

Absolutely no way Hunt tries to force his way out of a 1 million plus deal without knowing there is another deal waiting.

Broncs and Cows can't afford him...that leaves Titans.

If anyone saw big Mal on FOX about a week ago, he literally let it slip and then tried to cover his tracks.

Few things can see with this:

1) if Hunt leaves it will be conditional (no sydney club etc).

2) he will get paid regardless be it direct cap or indirect, using the homesick card is very smart. Especially during SOO time. Mal has worked this very very well to get 3rd parties lined up.

3) Will be interesting to see if Titans start releasing players shortly. They have 4 spots left for next year all filled by reggies off contract this year (1 player with CO).

Hunt is a top flight player and clubs will move players for him, wouldn’t say no to Boyd. 22 with 50 nrl games under his belt and more an organizational halfback.

If the rumoured $1m a season for Hunt is close to accurate- I have to think we are shooting for a premiership window 'now'.

You don't pay a 34 year old $1m a season to get to 9th. In saying that, I don't know if our window is open with the addition of 1 player (Hunt). I'm not 100% convinced this is great business. We all want to win 'now', but this looks like a financial investment into mediocrity. It will improve the team, no doubt. But at what long term cost?
We're not in 'win now' mode. We're in 'become a credible and competitive club' mode.

No one wants to sign with us, we've been poor for a while. We need a catalyst and more people buying into our vision, and we can't just rely on teenagers all becoming superstars.

I would be happy with Boyd and also their back up half.

It is interesting Mal is angry he was left out of the Des Hasler negotiations....anyone who saw him interviewed re Hunt a week back will know why. He basically let it slip and backtracked as it was open tampering. Someone up there has had the brains to leave him out of Des stuff and thus why it was kept so quiet.

Take this with a grain of salt but a mate of mine who has pretty good intel just mentioned that Ben Hunt is almost certainly coming to the Tigers! Apparently wants to link forces with Benji and attracted by the roster the club has to work with over the next 3 years.
Yeh for sure Benji is a player magnet. Munster, Moses, Johnson, Pearce and others all wanted to link up with Benji.

lol, as in actually approach Cogger and his manager with a sales pitch as to why he wants him specifically to be our halfback.
Oh you mean offer a contract for 850k-900k* to play Halfback/hooker/lock/5-8 with a random idea a little better then Tommy R's "bash the daylights out of them"

*but can go higher if manager plays hard to get.

We are not relocating to QLD, but there is another Tigers club hoping to be the 18 team.
We’re the ones without the claws.
