I reckon we move our best youngsters into the top 30 very early to ensure we keep them. It’s to the detriment of the current year however.

That said- someone he can beat out for the job within 12-18 months. If we are a development club, be one 100%.

So we are in a similar position with Sheens to before our 05 success. We could only recruit players with ability if they were returning from major injury (Scott Prince & Pat Richards) or solid experienced players who Sheens felt were good for culture & could find their potential at the Tigers (Hodgson, Whatuira, Elford).

I’m wondering whether players with similar experience who have a point to prove & yet to hit their peak may be our target.

Three can think of off the top of my head are Lachlan Lam, Connor Tracey & Blake Taafe.

Any others that fit the profile?

We are closer to 2003 than 2005. Filtering through the Michael Beuttner's of the world, waiting for the real star players- our Benji's & Robbie's- to come through the juniors.

Brad Parker, Paul Momorovski, Taaffe, Fulton, Luke Thompson, Billy Smith, Liam Knight? Ben Hampton perhaps?

“ Widely acknowledged “ yet contradicted by the Tele yesterday who said his deal was back ended and he is getting $800k for the next two seasons… you want him at that price? Dragons have said they are not going to pay any of it

That is hardly "Just around the corner" and certainly would not satisfy me and i suspect many others from being told that it will be another 7 years to be a success.

And its a detriment to their development. These kids are winners, they'll get jack of losing real quick.

Sounds like next year is looking great. Benji stepping up to do more coaching and hopefully signing a rookie wiz kid to fill one of our key halves role. What could go wrong ?

All my confidence in the club is back, we will once again be a destination club and I can renew my membership next year.

When you see the Bulldogs in a similar position you have to question the NRL pushing for expansion. Sydney clubs will be the ones that will suffer and management has to be a key component to give the club any hope of competing.
