Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Not arguing with you mate. You obviously see him different to me. But the Bulldogs were very happy to let him go mid-season as I recall, we let him go .
and now the Dragons are letting him go. It's not his fault that three clubs have been willing to throw money at him but I wouldn't throw $350k at him.
$350k is just a number off the top of my head. Let's just say "Wakeham money".

The Bulldogs were happy to let him go- agreed. I 'think' they had just moved him into the fullback role themselves, from memory. I'm trying to think who they had brought in to play 7 next to Reynolds to replace him.

I just remember him being very highly regarded PRIOR to becoming a 'utility'.

I thought Wakeham money would be south of 250 because he should be backup only.

Travis? And no to DW.
Dodd is obviously a popular option, but he has already said 2025, not 2024 for the NRL.

The following players are actually out of contract- Sezar, Austin, Lauchlan Lam, Pearce & Tui Lolohea.

Pearce looks slow now, and is playing as the 5/8. I'd prefer Austin over him. So we'll probably sign Pearce now. He does come with obvious leadership & directional skills.

Austin looks bigger than we last saw him. But from memory, he's pretty fragile. Does have a decent relationship with Sezar though. Still runs at the line & through it a lot, which is something we miss here!

Sezar is still the primary halfback & playmaker. His game was always based around his kicking, which still looks good. He's probably my pick of the off-contract players in the UK. For mine, he's a Hastings level signing, but with a slightly different skill set.

Lam, from all reports, is off to the Raiders.

I wouldn't sleep on Lolohea though. He looks fit, he's engaging the line, he's creative, kicks & runs. He looks like he's grown up from his time here. Also- goal kicker. To be totally honest- I liked him coming over from the Warriors. Just probably wasn't ready to be the saviour. As the second attacking option though...

Sezar & Lolohea could be interesting.

As far as picking ANYONE from the UK- Abdull & Mikey Lewis from Hull KR could be an interesting pair- both with obvious Sheens links too. Abdull would be great for Galvin, given body dimensions & how to use them as a half/5-8. Lewis is lively. For mine, something akin to getting Sam Walker.

I couldn’t swallow Lolohea or Austin, been there done that when they were younger.

Dodd or Pearce with a young exciting 6.
Watching 'highlights' of Pearce from this season only highlights the speed of the SL being lower than the NRL. Don't get me wrong- if we sign him I'll like it. For all the intangibles he brings.

But he looks slow. I'm not sure that actually helps the Tigers out right now.

Speaking of dynamic....a little left field, but at centre, Konrad Hurrell....with Staines outside him.

He has holes in his game, but he is a fantastic runner of the ball. We lack that ability out wide.

The timing around Fulton arriving and the deadline on Brooks, suggests to me that he may have had more to do with it than the board alone.. Fulton privy to who Manly were targeting with Schuster not working out at 5/8th and IMoses being Siebold and Lukes manager. Coincidence ??
Not one to defend the board of late -.they may have forced Brooks hand but they needed to know if he was interested in negotiating or wanted out. Signed sealed and delivered at Manly soon after.
It's just a win/win on our side.
But NO. That's not what has happened.

Brooks is managed by Issac Moses, Issac Moses is now in control of manly having signed almost all their roster as well as their Coach Siebold. That's exactly why Fulton left, he was on the outer because he wasn't signed with Moses.

Remember the trouble "the big 4" made here? imagine "the big 17!" (or more all signed with Moses).

Seriously Manly is in for a world of Hurt and it's all a Penn own goal. You call us mismanaged, imagine 1 money hungry agent in control of your club pushing every fringe grader for top dollar?

I haven’t seen much of Weekes but we definitely need some more strike power on the edges. Campbell Graham I would open the war chest for.
I'm conflicted. Strike power for sure. But then I watch Nofa defend & think- actually, we need solid defenders.

The perfect blend would be nice.

Weekes is lightning, and off contract. Probably more a fullback, but has been moving around. Brad Parker is the opposite, and also off contract. And I can find an argument in favour for both.

Weekes & Staines on one side- that would be some concerning speed to counter.
