Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Ok, what’s this I’m reading about Holbrook, does it have any legs or is it just another journos delusional ramblings.
I’m not sure what to make of Holbrook but I can see the logic in what is being written, especially regarding Tito and Fifita (although I personally put Fifita into the Schuster basket, unfulfilled potential). Did you watch last night, drifted in and out of the game.
I guess we’ll here more !
No idea if there is any merit to the Holbrook rumours and doubt he'd have much sway to relocate top players to a struggling club. I think there is little doubt he will pick up an assistant role somewhere and would not be upset if it was with us.
Cant agree with your take on Fifita. He didnt drift in and out of the game at all. He was benched for the majority of the game. I couldn't understand the logic of benching one of the best weapons in the game to play Cotter on an edge. Fifita as been the best backrower in the comp this year and at 23 has his best footy in front of him.

With Shaun Johnson signing on with the Warriors for next season & Chanel Harris Tavita returning, who will be the half that makes way in their squad? I don't think it will be Volkman as he is the likely heir apparent at halfback. As time goes on, Luke Metcalf is getting a strangehold on five-eighth.

So what are people's thoughts on securing Te Maire Martin as our 5/8?
Would take him due to few other options but dont really rate him as anything more than a passable first grader.

We all just found out?

People really reckon Brad Fittler would drop or not pick players just in case they could then activate a release clause to leave Tigers in 18 months, not even necessarily to the Roosters? Highly doubtful.

Freddy's first and primary concern is winning Origins. As it stands, not only is he not even guaranteed to be the 2024 coach due to losing this year's series (his contract would have been auto-extended if NSW won the series), he's not even guaranteed to re-apply to be the coach in 2024.
For me it’s not hard to believe. I believe the reason NSW is all over the shop is because of politics and favoritism rather than having a vision and executing it.

Payne Haas has decided to test the market come Nov 2023.

Add to that the potential Tino and Fifita release clause, it's rapidly become the biggest front-row open market in years.

Slight advantage for Tigers is that many clubs do not have a lot of salary cap space to spend big on props.
Gould will go for all 3 and have plenty of $$$ left over for Latrell Mitchell if he becomes available too.

Somewhere between $2.5 and $3m. We offered Moses $1.3m and have since lost Brooks, Ofahengaue and Talau.
i dont think it is as simple as that. Yes, we offered Moses 1.3 but you cant then add the value of the players leaving. That 1.3 probably factored in Brooks either leaving or halving his contract value and may have even considered plans to release players e.g. JOfa to accommodate. I think it's more likely you could add 500K for Brooks going. Talau wouldnt be on much as such any replacement would be of similar value, that's a scratch. JOfa being released may have freed up some space but it may also already be allocated to upgrading players earlier than originally planned e.g. Bula.
I would be surprised if there is more than 2M available and i think from memory 4 spots left in the 30 (happy to be corrected on this number by someone that has the list in front of them).

He said that sheens was tainting benjis opinion of Scott causing issues bc sheens hurt over Warren sacking

I passed all this to Lee and justin

Said whatever you think the perception is from player agents they think it’s a rabble

And won’t send players there

Told them they need to get Scott tim
And benji in a room
And put on a United front with agents regardless of what the truth is or we won’t sign anyone

Told them this was why Fainus had gone from preferring us to preferring other clubs

Lee said thanks for heads up

Justin said he had full
Faith in Scott

I told Justin that’s well and good but the market is concerned he won’t stick around and two they don’t think it’s United at the club

Let’s see how it goes

My opinion is that the sheens Fulton benji thing won’t last

I’ve heard from a close mate of benji he’s having second thoughts bc he walked away from a million dollar media deal bc he wanted to keep brooks and was t happy with the deadline we gave him and the $550k offer

And Scott wanted schuster which apparently benji was ok with until sheens got in his ear

Tartak then not happy over that and said well I’ll take Fainus elsewhere…

You can agree with that or not but that’s business

So you can see it’s all over the shop

Scott not happy

Benji not happy

Sheens not happy

Justin and Lee delusional if they think everyone is happy or can’t fix the mess

Agree with other comments that winning helps but it’s pretty bad atm

You would hope if your mail is correct they all should already know this, it surely must be transparent not sniping behind each others backs and keeping it to themselves.
To me Sheens seem's like he's already mostly checked out and if its only because of the McDonnell thing that's pretty childish. Although i will say it wasn't done in the best manner in the first instance, but i think they knew what the reaction would be from Sheens which is why they did it.
So with that said surely something has to give maybe Sheens needs to take a step back because Lee and Pascoe aren't going anywhere Benji isnt just going to walk back into his show.
The other thing that did potentially cross my mind is i do wonder if Benji is hell bent on coaching but see's for whatever reason he can't do that here perhaps he goes to the Dolphins with Wayne works under him for a year and then Wolff and see what happens.

More examples of why the current people in senior positions at the club (Board, Chairman & CEO) are not the right people to help us achieve on field success irrespective of any coaching plan.

Fifita is the best edge forward in the game by a country mile, in my opinion.

He didn’t drift in and out of the game, he was off the field most of the time (dealing with a back issue, I believe).
Ok, I was not aware of his injury but that doesn’t change MY overall opinion of him KR.
Of course you call as you see it, the way we all do. Cheers.

As I just said to KR in another response, didn’t realise he was injured but I was actually referring , not just to last night, but overall, he’s IMO a drifter.
But so many love him, I just don’t subscribe.

I felt sad reading that.

Down with Pascoe. Down with Chairman Lee.

Sheens is tainting Benji's judgement. Righto.

SMH reporting that the Dolphins have tabled a lucrative offer for the Fainu brothers.

It's depressing that most teams have 4+ NRL standard halves and we'll be starting next year with none.
Well we know why, don’t we, problems right across the organisation.
Lee and Pascoe are like a comedy duo, except it ain’t funny. Tim no longer has the cred he once did, Benji/Robbie trying to create some in coaching but that aura tarnished as well.
We specifically brought in a guy from Manly to correct some of those things, we had Schuster ready, Fainu bros ready but we’ve ended up with nothing so far.
Players released, few wins, bad press every second day. And no end in sight !!!
Right at the moment, the club is on life support.

We were about 700-800k under the Cap for 2023, prior to when the Ofahengaue and Brooks deals occurred

A very sad and unfortunate state of affairs!

Hope you have triggered something in the powers that be to sort this out asap @tigermate

If Tartak is speaking the truth, I can't see how Sheens can continue. Unfortunately in the short term the board & CEO aren't going anywhere and they seem to have Fulton's back.

They have to somehow have to appease Benji and get everything back on track.

But we have learnt with Sheens previously, he won't go without a fight.

It's makes me both sad & furious that decisions that Lee & Pascoe have made may greatly affect the Sheens & Benji legacy on the club as well as the future of our NRL team when it was looking so bright after the great night at Leichhardt 6 weeks ago.
