Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Geez you're in form Tony.
WT have approached everyone it seems and everyone else is making the most of it to bump up the price of every has been in the NRL and ESL.
As I told you months ago, Sanders and the Fainu's are priority number one. People on here seem to think Sheens somehow became an idiot overnight but history shows he is one of the great identifiers of talent and those boys are his targets. Whether that pans out remains to be seen.
I don't know anything about the Croft talk but I guess you need a plan B, or C.
From what Tigermate stated, I know Tartak was well pissed off with the Shuster thing but that may have resolved itself with Manly re-signing him. I'm not sold on Fulton. Sounds like he and Tartak work for each other, rather than Fulton for WT.
Most of the good player managers talk to each other at some level because they have a certain reliance on each other. Tartak and Moses are a different breed to the old school Beavises and Gillises.
Lucky I'm 75 years old and haven't played since b grade or sheens would probably want to talk to me.just kidding .

Seems the Holbrook rumour is gaining traction - wonder if it could be for more than just an assistant role.

Just my opinion but if that was to happen we really need to Cumberland Oval the club structures and start over.
🔥🔥🔥

was told benji back flipped on schuster after agreeing with Scott to pursue - and with boards approval to pursue

It was locked up

Then benji back flipped bc sheens didn’t want him.

Caused massive grief with agent and hence why Fainus aren’t coming.

I still think fainu might be a chance only bc they haven’t signed anywhere but this was pretty emphatic to me…

Again don’t shoot messenger dude

That’s from the horses mouth

Believe what you want.
Imagine that - imagine that you don't sign for a club because some other dude that your manager manages didn't get a gig.

It either sounds like pure baloney or top-tier bad advice.

Imagine your manager turning or talking down opportunities for you because some other bloke didn't get a golden ticket.

If this was true, well Schuster didn't sign for the Dolphins either.

Yeh mate, a lot of game of thrones stuff happening. Hard to find the truth. Rugby league can be very high school most the time.

The kernel is signed to parra for 24 so the Roman dude might just be for 23 and 24 which would be good if we can get fainu. Parra wouldn't release sanders.

Here's a rumour from Bunnies, pretty good info too. Cody at 7, Wighton 6, Furguson and Graham 3 and 4. Taafe and Illias up for sale.

That is interesting Benji dragged Illias to the Bunnies from us, I’m guessing he rates or did rate him at one point. Wonder if he’ll end up falling out of a tree.
Illias and a Fainu could work I guess, we’ll still probably end up with the dream team of Wakeham and Smith next year anyway.

@tigermate I'm not doubting your info at all, but more confused by what his manager is saying here.

If he's pissy about the Schuster thing, why enter negotiations about the Fainu brothers? It was never going to be all 3 of them I imagine.

And the whole results thing also doesn't make sense. We are obviously struggling, and clearly wanting to improve our roster. Our current results are kind of irrelevant given that we're playing with no spine.

Also really feel like the Fulton vs Benji/Sheens is a beat up.

All good.

Heard it from a player agent - direct.

And he’s one of the top 3 guys who manages best talent.

and that was last week before this article.

I’m hoping it’s incorrect

But can’t blame Steff if he did want out

Players want to play semis

He won’t want to be at a club as a future rep player for 5 yrs with no semis

Who would lol

He said to me “Steff will probably leave… and a lot of juniors too… the club has no vision… and the dynamics with sheens benji Fulton is a sh*t show… and Scott could walk too”

Don’t shoot the messenger
Sounds like a bitter agent annoyed that they've been shut out of the club

If you read between the lines, the Braydon Trindall boat has sailed and Wests Tigers now ideally want Jonah Pezet, Ethan Sanders or potentially Lachlan Ilias as the starting number 7 for 2024.
Any of the 3 would be fantastic, just not sure if we are a realistic chance on any of them.
That’s why I believe we need to sign an older more experienced and much cheaper halfback to apply pressure to any potential young halfback we may sign.
As for a 6, I don’t think we should bother even contemplating big money for a young player such as Fainu as we have some highly promising young 6’s of our own and just need a stop gap 6 until they are ready.
I think Taafe would be great playing 6 for us, but it seems he’s going to the Bulldogs ss their starting fullback.
Metcalfe would be great, but it seems he’s now established himself as the number one 6 at the Warriors.
Croft might be ok, but I just feel we ideally need someone a bit bigger in stature and better defensively as our 6.
Junior Amone maybe an option ?
Anyone think Paul Alamoti would be a good recruit ?

He was brought back as Director of football, took on the coaching role out of necessity and then watched on as (I believe unqualified) people above him made football decisions unbeknownst to him. That’s undermining someone.
Sheens conducted our search for anew coach, only to come up with one name, fail to get them, then decide that he's the only one who can do the job and that he should be hired.
He's been shifty for a long long time now. We need to move on from his bs

Alamoti would get a tick here

It sounds like sour grapes at the time from Tartak because he thought he had Schuster locked away with us on an overpriced deal to play 5/8.

So he was having a spit to you because Sheens was looking out for the club knowing you may go back to the club as a concerned member about Sheens’ intrusion. Unfortunately now he can hold the Fainus as ransom and the club looks even worse for not securing them.

But really his attitude is doing a disservice to Da Silva and the Laulilii brothers (his clients with us) who love the club and should be given every chance to succeed here.

I’m calling it ‘playing the game’ and reckon we’ll still end up with the Fainus probably forking out more to get them.
So Tartaks plan was to sell us Schuster on a big money deal for 5/8 and to then reward us with another 5/8 on big money and his brother..? Right....
