Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We can go on about how Simpkin won't reach the peak or how embarrassing it is for a parent to berate the club on social media but I think a lot of the frustration is more around how WT are maybe releasing these guys. With the poor culture ingrained in the club and sub-standard management, I wouldn't be surprised if there is very little care in kicking a player to the kerb once they no longer fit into plans...
I don't think Simpkin is the answer. You can see what a great hooker has brought to the team in Api. But I do feel Madge put a lot of pressure on him to perform immediately (thinking of that Rabbits game where he played 80 in one of his first games against a huge pack), and then went cold on him. We were desperate for a star, but Robbie Farah's don't come around very often.

So now the Benji/Fulton dream team can work on securing 4-5 experienced recruits that bring the right character, leadership & effort that we need through this transitionary period.

Halfback - Aidan Sezer
5/8 - Brodie Croft (with the thinking to shift to halfback after Sezer)
Centre - Brad Parker
Utility - Connor Watson (hooker, lock & 5/8)

Not flashy but all provide effort & experience.

Croft, T'oa, Staines, Bula for the speed. And look to recruit/retain some fast, x-factor outside backs in the NSW Cup - Jimmy Ngutlik, Jordan Hill & someone Fulton can find from western Sydney.
Didn’t Watson sign already with the slimmmy eels

Anyone any idea how far off is Ngutlik

Tigers land Fainu brothers on four-year deals

Wests Tigers have secured a much-needed recruitment win by beating the Dolphins to rising stars Samuela and Latu Fainu with lucrative four-year deals.

The pair are due to join the Tigers from November 1 and are seen as two of the best youngsters in the game after Latu, a five-eighth, and Samuela, a forward, performed strongly in NSW’s under-19s State of Origin victory last week. (SMH)

Actually delighted. Great news. If the Sezer rumours are true too, he's a solid experienced head to ease Latu into first grade playmaking. Between Bula, Fainu, Da Silva & plus all our young forwards. there are some good signs ahead. Just need to stick with them and get the right players around them.

Latu is very impressive but still not sold on Samuela. Chris Faagutu looks a better prospect imo... I reckon we'll see a debut from him next year.
Different players, different sizes, styles in the 19s game he reminded me of a younger Stefano; though his a wide runner probably could grow into more of a Kikau, Katoa.

No he is still uncontracted with the Roosters (on the injury list all year so far with patella tendon).

You may be thinking of Connor Tracey as there were rumours a couple of months back Eels were interested but he is still contracted at the Sharks.

The goal is to have Latu ready for the 6 jersey come 2024 and give him the pre season next to Bula, Api and Seizer to see what he can do.

Mail was always the same - they were always coming but wanted assurance that Fulton was going nowhere given the speculation of a rift. The whole Dolphins scenario was always a leverage thing.

Some other news…. the same source also alerted me about Lomax wanting out months ago seems to be confident that we’re putting ourselves in the picture to get him next. Benji is driving this but up to 6 clubs have made enquires - what does work in our favour is that Lomax is a lot more keen on us than people would assume. However, Flanagan would prefer him to stay so maybe a Simpkin trade could work?

We’re also in box seat to secure Holbrook too but John Morris is being heavily heavily considered.

He also mentioned the club is looking for another halves player - wasn’t told any names.

That’s all I’ve got right now
