If the report is accurate that he's on 500k (WTF!) then no way. Also not sure how many 5/8's we need for next season, currently we will have Fainu, Doueihi and possibly even Galvin in our top 30 as 5/8. Given we'd have Api and TDS in our top 30 too, and possibly still one of Rua/Simpkin we don't need a 5/8-hooker utility. We need either a an organising halfback, or a fullback-5/8 utility.
Say we have Sezer as 7 next year and he gets injured in round one, who would replace him? We need another organising halfback in our top 30 (another reason why i wouldn't have Galvin in our top 30 under any circumstances, a development contract instead)

That is true Sullivan would be a decent get and could probably be the future 7 all he has to do is outplay Sezer, he probably back himself there.
I know Wakeham cops a lot of stick but people have got to look at what he was brought here for he's a back up. If your back up is playing most of the season then theres a fair chance your halves have had major issues, not ideal for any team.
Wakeham has limitations always has but he's performed well above his pay grade, as a matter of fact if he had similar speed to Brooks there would be a cigarette paper between them ability wise.

Well, yes. But Wakeham is on minimum wage, while I doubt Sillivan would come here for cheap.

Not sure what his best position is, 5/8 or back up - but he won't be coming here for backup or at backup price.

Unless Laurie is leaving, this would be a weird signing.

I think organising half is what he grew up being & wants to be so he could be that back-up HB option plus versatile enough for 5/8 & hooker utility.

The Titans are facing a battle to retain Phillip Sami with two Sydney rivals, including the Roosters, circling the former Queensland Origin flyer.

Sydney scouts are watching Sami closely and the in-form outside back gets the chance to press his claims in the Titans’ clash against the Roosters on Saturday at Cbus Super Stadium.

Sami has been one of the form wingers of the NRL this season and the Titans have been so rapt with his form they want to extend his current contract.

The 25-year-old is off-contract at the end of next season but Gold Coast bosses are keen to keep Sami on the Glitter Strip until the end of 2025 or 2026.

Hunt and Amone are superior to ours. No amount of coaching can make up the deficit so it is extremely difficult to win games without them. It is easy to point the finger. We have been linked to Sullivan by Rothfield and have purchased Fainu and perhaps Sezer so it is obvious the club knows this as well.

Our redzone attack has been awful no matter who has been in the halves this season. Whether it's Doueihi, Brooks, Wakeham, Smith or Laurie our attack has been dreadful & even painful to watch. All pre season we were sold an attacking brand of footy by the coaching staff which hasn't eventuated in the slightest other then the Cowboys game. If it's not a coaching issue what is it?

I think the figure you quoted is a reflection of supply/demand in the market. You can choose not to pay and then be in a position where we were last night. I like it that WTs is attempting to strengthen the halves where we are weak. I don't believe we have any other option but to go to market. This is no reflection on Galvin who be all accounts is a super talent be we need to give him time.

What you have written is a reflection of where we are at in the backs. We've been outclassed but have had bright moments in Bula, Tupou, Toa and last night Laurie. I agree with Gould that there is a team building. I remember quite a few negative comments about Bula early in his days playing Flegg. I do believe this team will develop well but it won't be this year.

Pretty sure Laurie is there or there abouts money wise so probably a straight swap, we need halves depth desperately.

It’s obvious we’re going to have a different opinion on this. I thought this team was good enough to potentially challenge for the top 8 on the back of a pre season of promise we were sold by the coaching staff & club. Yes, our backs are poor but some of the coaching decisions this season have been bizarre to say the least & there’s been more then a few games that I thought we would’ve won this season if not for poor coaching selections/tactics.

I think we should’ve been coached as a side to play to our strength this season which was our forward pack, instead we were sold a dream of 200 passes a day at training & blitzing the opposition with an attacking brand of footy. The games we simplified all of this & rolled through the middle were the games we won/competed most in.

St George Illawarra have granted highly-rated halfback Jayden Sullivan permission to negotiate with rival clubs effectively immediately.

Sullivan met incoming coach Shane Flanagan on Wednesday and was told he was free to look elsewhere.

Sullivan’s manager Mario Tartak is now shopping the Dragons local junior to rival clubs, including Canterbury, Wests Tigers, and Newcastle.

While the Bulldogs appeared certain to sign him, coach Cameron Ciraldo has eased off after securing Toby Sexton from the Gold Coast.

The Tigers are now odds-on favourites to secure him.

Sullivan’s pay packet is in the $500,000 a season range and the Dragons may have to contribute to his next contract to make the halfback a more attractive option to rivals.

He had two more years left on his current deal.
