Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We've won 3 games all year & have the worst attack in the comp... how are we not a poorly coached side?

We're outclassed in the halves and the backs. Hunt and Amone make many NRL teams. It is difficult to win games without your best halves pairing. Koroisau, Brooks, Doueihi, Staines and Nofoaluma have all been out.

I don't believe it is an unrealistic expectation that we will struggle. I don't like the team losing but we need to acknowledge much of our cap has been sidelined.

Agreed.

Not saying we're a well coached side, but being stuck with Wakeham at halfback is a big reason we've been losing lately. We win last night without him in the side.

I think the better argument is that our depth players were significantly below what was needed. I think our first team squad is competitive. We simply lack the same depth in reserve that other clubs have. So when injury hits, we shuffle out sub-par options compared to our competitors.

Hunt yes Amone no if it wasn't for Sullivan getting injured he wouldn't of even been in the side yesterday. All of those players you mentioned were all in the team when we were 0-7 to start the season so I reiterate my point that we are a poorly coached side.

He’ll have to retire Young like Moltzen. Poor guy is going to hate life when he hits 50.
Agree. But Benji went through similar and came back to have a great career.

If we didn't play a 2nd hooker on the bench, I would suggest he would make a perfect 14, on a lower salary, and we can manage his workload. But we want TDS in that spot.

Benj’s issues were his shoulders, due to his horrible tacking technique. Knees are a whole different story.

Rothfield reporting Tigers are the favourites to sign Jayden Sullivan for next season.

Depending on price, I think he's a great option as a bench utility/back-up half, but not as a first-choice starter.
Thought he already had signed with the Dogs

I like that, gives Fainu time and competition.
Good pairing next to Sezer if Sezer is actually signed.

I've never really rated him as a week-in, week-out starting half in the NRL but he provides a heap of impact as a bench player; covers the halves and hooker.

Would be dependent on price, but is a good backup/bench option IMO.

The Dragons rebuild is well and truly underway, with one young star given permission to leave the club, while a veteran will make an immediate transfer to the UK.

St George Illawarra have granted highly-rated halfback Jayden Sullivan permission to negotiate with rival clubs effectively immediately.

Sullivan met incoming coach Shane Flanagan on Wednesday and was told he was free to look elsewhere.

Sullivan’s manager Mario Tartak is now shopping the Dragons local junior to rival clubs, including Canterbury, Wests Tigers, and Newcastle.

While the Bulldogs appeared certain to sign him, coach Cameron Ciraldo has eased off after securing Toby Sexton from the Gold Coast.

The Tigers are now odds-on favourites to secure him.

Sullivan’s pay packet is in the $500,000 a season range and the Dragons may have to contribute to his next contract to make the halfback a more attractive option to rivals.

He had two more years left on his current deal.

I posted on here that Sullivan was making way for Kyle and that the Tigers still wanted another halves player besides Seizers expected arrival so does make sense. Sullivan is twice the player as Wakeham so I’d prefer him as our backup option for 7.

We actually wanted him 1-2 years ago but as I recall he re-signed at the Dragons. Plans change though as Shane wants his son at 7.
