Daine Laurie #237

He was sh1t. Cant wait to see the back of him. He couldn't even play well for the Magpies.
You're right, anyone that watched him play for the Magpies knows he was horrible.
I think Sheens wanted to give him a run at 6, he even said so in a press conference, but you can't promote a bloke who was kicking stones and having a huge sook.

He never put his body on the line- he legitimately jumped out of the way to avoid contact when Kikau was running towards our line.
I don't think that's right overall. I saw Laurie put his body on the line a lot, and one of those occasions cost him a badly broken leg. He's not a big body and I would not readily accuse him of avoiding the collision. That's not his go.

Whether or not his head is in it any more, is another question. The answer probably lies in why he has mostly played reserve grade 2023.

I can't really be upset that he was pleased for his former team-mates when Penrith finally put that first premiership together; so many of these boys know each other and are mates across teams. Certainly he could have handled it better from a Tigers fan POV, but if he never did or said anything captured in social media, it wouldn't change the truth that he's happy for his mates, in a race Tigers were not even remotely involved in. In other words, to post nothing or say nothing in public about your relationship with other clubs or players, might make fans happy, but isn't necessarily the reality for the player.

I just think it hasn't worked out, even if his first season was really good. I am not bitter about that, I just don't think he's up to it.

In my opinion he’s a backup once Fainu arrives, as he’s the future. Can’t blame him for leaving - the club didn’t really show any real belief in him.

There’s also Lachlan Galvin who the Tigers have wrapped up - there’s huge wraps in him.

Should have been given an opportunity earlier. Got dropped after a poor game and yet others consistently get picked for equally poor performances. Terrible management of a player that has ability - was one of the first picked last season - and at a club that is struggling to fill a position that he is capable of playing.
Definitely this.

He was never great for us, but definitely deserved another run way earlier given how trash our team is.

One shot at 5/8 and he was very good. Had we seen that earlier, a lot could be different.

Anyway, he needs to be all in to flourish anywhere. His attitude seems pretty poor.

I think he'll be a very good fill-in for them. Probably not a starter but could probably slot in at most of the backline positions. I don't think the contract would be much there but he's a good signing for them. Skillful and reasonably fast player with a bit of spark. Has errors in his game and doesn't play very disciplined, but those saying he'll be like Garner there are wrong. Garner sucks because of his lack of physicality. Almost unplayable and was too soft for Penrith.

Perhaps we offered Laurie a similar sort of offer and role and he saw more enjoyment at Penrith? I think he played reasonably well for us most of the time. Started this year way off, but so did most of the backline. As others have said, never seemed to show much interest in backing our club and I don't think he'll be a big loss.

Yep he has gone back to the Panthers.

Speculation seems around Jerome Luai.
Though I wonder. Could Dylan Edwards be available?
Unsure if he would suit our team. We need backs badly though.
