I think the idea that there’s no carry over is a good one.
At the start of each series a clean slate is imo a better way.
Let’s face it, we might have won the first 2 but we’re then outplayed in next 3, however, we get a smiling photo for, luckily, drawing the series.
If there was no rain in Manchester it would have been 3-2 to the Poms.

I maintain, we out thought them in that 4th Test.
They made two huge blunders and I think their ego and naivety cost them that game.
Test cricket is as much a mental game as a physical one. They were better on the field but we outmanoeuvred them strategically. Were we really outplayed?

We saw the rain coming and played to stay alive long enough for it to positively impact the game for us.

Cause they are used to it. The only sunshine they have is when they win the Ashes. And good for them. They deserve it! Played to the conditions.

Well we ( England did ) but I meant Nathan Lyon was a big loss injury wise for Australia . 2-2 draw series so Australia retained Ashes which I think overall is fair enough particularly when they beat India in WC test also.

Aussie attack looked pretty one dimensional without Lyon chipping in with his outstanding control and usual 3 or 4 wickets. One of the best spinners in the game and he was a huge loss. 2-2 was a fair result overall.

Sounds like Wests Tigers. And Bula was the spinner.

They are far more evenly matched than people are giving them credit for.

I think if Woakes starts the series, England win. Would probably have taken 30 wickets for the series if he was there from the first Test. Instead, Ollie Robinson was a passenger. Poms didn’t get their team balance right till Headingly

I think if Lyon finishes the series, Oz win easy.
Woulda coulda?
Same with the weather, saved us in one test, cost us in another.
I reckon we got shafted on that ball change though.

Maybe. He may have broke down injured as well.
