Cricket Season Thread

Well we ( England did ) but I meant Nathan Lyon was a big loss injury wise for Australia . 2-2 draw series so Australia retained Ashes which I think overall is fair enough particularly when they beat India in WC test also.

Anyone else glad this whinge fest is finally over.....drove me to drink 😵‍💫

but seriously, worst series, worse crowds, worse reporting... just 💩 all round
Worst series? How do you figure that?
3 Tests went 5 days and the other 2 went 4.
More than 700 boundaries hit with 74 of those going all the way.
Mitch Stark took 23 wickets in 7 innings, Woakes took 19 in 6 innings.
Zak Crawley had a strike rate of 88.7 as an opener, averaging 53.
Usman Khawaja hit 496 runs at an average of 49.6 and hit the most boundaries with 57.
7 batsmen averaged over 40
19 players had a strike rate over 50.
7 different players hit a century
27 half centuries were scored.
Lots of good wicket hauls from both sides.
The games were all played in front of massive crowds who were extremely vocal.
Both sides very evenly matched.
It’s one of the best series I’ve seen.

Not a bad way for Broad to finish his career. Last ball faced, hit a six, last ball bowled took a wicket and won the match.
Yeah nice fairytale…almost.
Still a shitbloke, he has that for life thanks to his ego and his father who is also a flog.

No, loved it, watched almost every minute.
Every game was in the balance and up for grabs.

Since the match ended I thought thank God this shitty tour of the UK Is over .crowd behaviour disgusting . Switching off cricket till next tour .Think its September- December non stop white ball cricket and I don't mind 50 over games but not T20 .
Go the Matilda's !

Just reading about Poms refusing to have a traditional after series drink. I think it says a lot about them. Bazball may be innovative but arrogance is not.
Every game of senior cricket I ever played always ended with the two teams sharing a beer. Admittedly wasn’t a Test match but I believe that is the usual procedure.

Out of order if true.

Depends - I heard it was a misunderstanding and the Poms went looking or the Aussies for drinks but they had gone: mind you, the Poms dressing room was shut longer than usual because of all their internal presentations re players retiring etc.

No Illingworth drinking with Stackpole and the Chappels into the early hours . Feel free to insert Botham,Border,Gower ,Lillee ,Warne etc into that lot .

Retaining the urn is all well and good, but they go there first and foremost to win the series, not draw it. A drawn series gives off the vibe that you had to rely on past accomplishments. It boggles the mind how long it’s been since they won a series over there.

Never thought about it.
