Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Knew a Kiwi that played high level union.
Thought he was OK until he told me NZ nion will never have a non-white in the halves because they aren't intelligent enough. His words - not theirs.
Needless to say I never met him again.

They've had several. Current 9 & 10 halves are
Māori. Aaron Smith & Ritchie Mounga...
some of the guys on here are interested in
conspiracies and eugenics. Forum has been
looking like a pub in hicksville last few days

If their first wasn't an invasion into Europe there never would have been a crusade. It's was a retaliatory defensive war. The crusades were launched after the caliphate had conquered Spain then made their way through France before being turned back. Then the European armies made their way into the middle east. Nothing racist about it. I doubt if China invaded you would just hand your home over to them.
So no problem calling a team the 'Jihadists' then for responding to invasion? I prefer to stick to Animals and Birds for team names... Although Magpies can be quite aggressive and territorial.

This is simply factually incorrect.

First photo below shows a fairly obvious trend that the further down the field you play the ball the more likely you are to score a point. In the NRL between 2016-2021 teams scored 0.3 points per play the ball inside the 10m line compared to 0.04 points per play the ball in midfield. Only when you get inside the 20m can you expect to score 0.1 or more points per play the ball and it exponentially increase from their. You are 700% more likely to produce a point from 10m out to 50m out. Teams do not score more from midfield breaks, fact.

2nd graph shows a heat map of play the balls resulting in tries form 2016-2021 where green is high and red is low. The map shows the significantly largest proportion of tries are scored in the 20m line and an even larger majority 10m out and usually middle of the field.

Field position is king. We have field position but we have below average backs unable to meet NRL standards in point production. Imo we have two decent prospects in Bula and Tupou and literally no one else is NRL standard in our backline. I genuinely don't think we have had a NRL standard half or centre in half a decade.

I really wish we lived in a world in which people would consider their positions before sprouting off opinions and calling them facts. This forum can be the Dunning-Kruger effect in full flight most of the time.
Is there any mapping or other info which shows where on the field the tackle set that resulted in a try started?

I'd be curious to see how many play the balls in the "red" zone we're as a result of a series of line breaks as opposed to a gain from a penalty kick or change of possession.

The information you have provided above provides even more context to last weeks game where twice Souths were gifted field position for Lauries "flops" and we were denied twice for shoulder charges while coming off our own line. It may appear slightly inconsequential at the time but calls like those have a massive impact on results.

And their wallets.

Hope Staines stays long term.
He's a guy that I didn't think very highly of before he played here, but I've really been impressed with him in the limited games that he's been available.
Usually happens the other way around with our recruits.
I totally agree. I wasn’t happy when we signed him but he gives 100% every game. And has speed. Must be kept

Given this is in the signing suggestions and rumours discussion, who are they recruiting? Are any of our players going there?

Great post. I think we can really evolve the culture of our forum when 2 different points of view don't result in a slanging match that goes on for pages.

I propose the promotion of A2DA - Agree to Disagree.

....and don't ever take posts personally, quickly formulated messages can easily be misunderstood.

BlackWhiteGold seems a good guy who does a lot of thinking about who would be good buys for the WT.

I agree with a lot of his suggestions … just not this one 👍

Wayne Bennett made a Kangaroo's tour. Jack Gibson played for NSW.
Just to follow up on your post Y, Gibson played once for NSW so wouldn’t call him a star player and I’m sure we both saw Bennett play and he wasn’t anything flash either.
I repeat what I said that being a star player doesn’t necessarily translate to coaching ( but eg.in Bozo Fultons case it was different, great player, great coach.

Just keep talking. In the meantime real teams be doing the walking. Cleary wasn't flash. But Walters was a little flash.

Bulldogs recruitment seems endless .
Begins for this year with Kikau , Mahoney , Addo Carr , Burton ,Burns Tevita Pangai ,Perham and now on to Sutton , Crichton, Salmon , Taafe ,Xerri , Liam Knight Sexton ,Oloapu ,Pele
How on earth do they do it ?
Because they are not promoting or pursuing anyone within their own junior base. They are also releasing / have released almost everyone signed prior to 2022.
