'There is a perception that we lurch from one inept decision to another.’ - Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis
Ha that was clever 👌Sheens kept flipping the coin every week and mostly guessed wrong… it’s high tails he moved on…
I put it to you that plenty of folks been tap-dancing on the edge of the handle for quite a few years now. Some are flying off the handle it appears
OK but Sheens does deserve to go. Other deserve to go as well, but that doesn't spare Sheens. Not upset he’s gone, but another example of the poor decision making by management, Their new narrative, it was all Sheen’s fault, let’s move on. Next year it will be Benji. When will it be management, they are the clowns that agreed with the Sheen’s & Benji plan, can’t see any other club doing something similar.
Only that #6 is looking more like "agree with the club to part ways" rather than him actually being sacked.1. Get sacked by the club
2. Sue the club for sacking you
3. Come back to the club
4. Advise the club to sack the coach
5. Recommend hiring yourself as the coach
6. Get sacked by the club.
Did I miss anything?
What makes you think anyone will put their hand up to take such a role?Which is why Benji needs a very experienced coach to help him who is familiar with the modern game (not Sheens),Morris would be my choice ahead of Hasler because he has been out of the game for a little longer.Whoever it is who assists him they need to be told that it is Benji's team for the future and they are there to guide him
Not acting? They acted to put us in this mess for the past 24 months. If this was an American licence youd know they would try and flunk so they can relocate the team.Fascinating. I suppose some on here will be happy.
You can't fault Pascoe, Lee and the board for not acting. You might call them reactive but geez we are hopeless.
Benji > Ciraldo.
Tigers would have to be favourite for the spoon next year. Hel be gone in 12 months.I cant even think about the next coach at this stage….
Benji will have a long leash … wouldn’t be surprised if he lasts 3 years …if he shows steady improvement like 15th next year and 12th the following that will be all that it takes for him to get a third year…
Not saying that improvement is a given but don’t think it’s out of the question either
We really need to look into that game, its preparation and how we conducted ourselves after it.I was at the Cowboys game at Leichhardt standing right behind our players area and was highly impressed with the actions and demeanour of both Farah and Marshall.
They watched the Flegg played prior to the NRL game, both had constant positive interactions with our Flegg players and once our NRL players arrived both had constant positive interactions with them also.
In addition to this both had plenty of time to talk with our fans and Farah was then actively involved in our NRL warm up after having a deep discussion with Benji which I would assume was in relation to the warm up, but also pre game instructions to our players.
I don’t know why it has gone so pear shaped since, but the pre game positivity from Farah and Marshall definitely has a major influence in that great result against the Cowboys at Leichhardt.
Which player was released right after that game?We really need to look into that game, its preparation and how we conducted ourselves after it.
It stands out as such an outlier performance this year that it cannot be ignored. What changed?
The long term plans don't work because they were never long term plans from the outset. They were thought bubbles created under the heat of responding to yet another stuff up. The fact that they came up with the Sheens / Benji plan only a week or so being knocked back by Ciraldo indicates that this wasn't a long term plan that was comprehensively thought through, debated, alternatives assessed, etc. like most long term plans are. What they came up with is the equivalent of writing it up on the back of a coaster over a beer, looking at it, and saying, "hey, that could work, let's give this a go". No wonder it all unravels so quickly. A successful club needs a good CEO, a good Head of Footy and a good Head Coach. It is the governance spine that determines how successful a club is in recruiting, developing and holding players at fair market value and having them perform at close to their best most weeks. Can we honestly say Wests Tigers have any of these at the moment? No disrepect to Benji, I hope he makes a great head coach, but he is not even out of coaching daipers yet.I read this line and just had to respond. You are 100% wrong. They've had multiple long term plans. The problem is the long term plans don't work and hence they make changes.
There is no problem in creating a long term plan. The problem is in getting a long term plan right but I don't think long term plans work very good anyway.
When do you know the least amount of information about some project you are about to embark on. It's at the start. Long term plans generally suck because you are trying to do something that you can't do well.
I'll tell you how it works:-
1. Create a long term plan and fool a bunch of morons into feeling good. Pat each other on the back.
2. Start doing the work and realize that the long term plan is a piece of crap.
3. Repeat step 1.
I reckon it's simple. Get good people and let them go to work. Hopefully Benji is a better coach than Sheens is right now.
I made that comment my signature on Monday 🙂 Brilliant stuff by the man.The last straw was him last week saying we lost but didn’t get beat. Even for him, it was beyond the pale. He had to go
my feelings alsoYeah just so I am clear, we are considering moving on from the guy who
1) Advised us to sack Madge
2) Made a call that influenced our first wooden spoon
3) Coached us personally to a second consecutive wooden spoon
4) Failed to land an experienced NRL halfback despite having a million bucks to throw around all year
5) Failed to retain Luke Brooks who was a key component of their ongoing halves strategy
And some people are upset? Of course for "keeping up appearances" you'd want everything to go to plan, i.e. the 2022 plan, but there's a more valid argument that reality tells you the plan is not trending in the right direction and a change should be made.
Why is anyone upset by this? Sheens advised us to sack our coach, we were not travelling well 2022 but imploded after that decision was made, and we've made basically no improvement in the following 12 months. It's entirely reasonable that Sheens takes a bullet for this.
But also, according to the SMH update, Sheens' management also reached out to Tigers to discuss an early exit.
