Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

well Not impressed with anything put forward , same crap as normal
Not sure what could have been said to change your mind. I think they addressed a few issues. But, just as the 'media' twist a story to suit their narrative, I'm certain the narrative was twisted to suit "JP" & the club as well.

Fulton was interesting to listen to. Going back to Leichardt & Campbelltown was good to hear.

The truth of any story, situation or narrative is nearly always somewhere in the middle of the two differing view points. The media would have you believe the club is a 'basket case of paddle pop clowns in Bali'. The club would have you believe we are on the verge of world domination.

Fact is- if the club continues to make sound financial decisions, if we actually get development on our own home grounds, if we stop spending too much on players in order to bring them or keep them at the club... things will improve. I like to believe it will improve to great levels. I could very well be one-eyed. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle..

This to me says Sheens stuffed up our recruitment. The squad is unbalanced. We bought Klemmer for big dollars and we have Stef on big dollars and we probably only need one of them. They are big and slow but with the potential to take tough hit-ups. Then we have a bunch of juniors in the squad who don't look like making it as NRL players.

He hasn't stuffed us as badly as Clearly did and next year we lose a bunch of players so it's not terrible but it's not good for next season.
You realise Klemmer was on 400k this season and next, right? Absolute bargain and our best forward all season

Are you applying for a job on the board?

Klemmer is averaging 140m running per game, he is averaging 53post contact metres per game, tackling at 99% efficiency.

you are a terrible judge of footballer Earl.

Yep. Earl and his fellow traveler, paws, couldn’t recognise a talented footballer if they ran them both over.

The fact that both of them are advocating for the re-signing of career plodders like Seyfarth is perhaps the best reason why he should be flicked.

I wasn't that impressed with Fulton, continuously got names wrong and people he was speaking about, also not that diplomatic, sometimes you have to listen to what is being spoken about, not just stuff them. Hope he is good at his job.

Funny I was of the totally opposite opinion -was really impressed with his attitude and opinions. Loved the it's just to sell papers and ignore it all

I like his hard nose approach. Won't fold. Will push for what he believes is the right thing for the club. If he and Benji can form a half decent relationship, we should be in pretty good stead.

Most of it was Meh but they made some valid comments I thought & that comment about the newspapers was a clear one.

The article was about other clubs but they called us out, pascoe comment regarding the cap is in it’s best shape we have ever had it was interesting also. Based on the roster we have we shouldn’t be close to 10m over the next 2-3yrs so I’m expecting we go after formally / linked to some big names in Nov-feb.

I had no idea what a Sword Smoker was...
Urban dictionary to the rescue:
The act of smoking marijuana as well as engaging in a King Arthur sexual role play with a partner.

Wow this is a thing. Ok it explains the round table/round couch!

It sounds like a complement doesn't it. I might ask my wife if she is into some King Arthur role playing.

I saw a story about a month or more ago, it said Api and Ice have bought in to Benji’s vision for the club, and want to stay long term.
Since that story, Api has signed long term, I am sure Ice is not about to jump ship, and besides Parra couldn’t afford him anyway
I've got no inside knowledge at all but if Parra are thinking about putting another, say, $1.25m of their salary cap into forwards when the reason why they sucked this season was that they only have about three first grade quality back on their roster they're even dumber than we are. Plus they don't have the cap room full stop.

Tell you what, though - if they're even interested in Papali'i or Utoikamanu I for one am bloody glad we gummed up their salary cap even further with the Ofahengaue contract...

Benji is going to be in for a hell of a job in 2024. We need a tough as nails assistant and I think John Morris is one person we want there. Hopefully we will get a tackling coach as well.
Now that you mention it there seems to be a bit of noise around about David Furner to Souffs as an assistant.

What are you talking about, you take Haumole with both hands if that actually becomes possible. Bloke is a weapon. We have nobody like his size and power on an edge.

I won't hold my breath though.
Of course we could take more players, however there is a cap and we need centres and wingers more than we need backrowers. We just fail to get our strike players in to the right situations I.e ipap, Bateman, Blore

That’s what I’m talkin’ bout.

Fulton and Benji don't have to be best mates. As long as they respect each other as individuals that's fine. No doubt there will be some heated exchanges but that's all a part of the business of having different opinions. Both are mature men and I'm positive this relationship will better the Wests Tigers.
