Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Yes quite a difference between NRL and ESL. Some very average former NRL players have done remarkably well over there. Still at this stage I’d do anything to get a fast centre who can actually make a break, though I was hoping for someone more elite.
Is French considered a centre?

Always been fullback/wing imo.

Storm got lucky with Warbrick - what a star.
Hopefully Tupou can become the player we need him to be but yes, 100% - we need to add some strike in our backline.

Those plans need to change.

Sounds like things have shifted & we're now wanting to keep him...

Olakuatu though... he's the type of second rower that could really break games open for us.

I'd like to keep Blore and sign Haumalo.
Would love to get that guy but he would probably be useless here because we just wouldn't know how to use him.

Thought Papali'i was going to be that guy but that didn't work out as well as it should have, we are just clueless.

Just for the record I also want Blore to stay and the Pommy can head back to the Old Dart.

Hope our halves next season have some sort of an idea of organising this rabble.

I very much doubt if Bateman will stay at the club for the length of his contract as he has a record of breaking them. For a man who has cost the club massive dollars this year when you include his transfer fee he has hardly been the "domino" that we needed to fall as Sheens said he would be.

Looks like he would be a great get.

Have mentioned his name a few times on here in the past. Huge x factor. Unfortunately still contracted until end of 2025 at Storm.

Would still be asking the question though, as he is stuck behind some decent players at Melbourne at the moment.

Really close mates with Fonua Pole too.

Bevan French is not the type of player the Tigers need. He's a slightly above average guy that is quick- pretty much the perfect mix to succeed in the SL.

Our halves will be the main reason for improvement in our backs.

But our outside backs need to be safe under kicks, at least reasonable in defence, able to compete physically & not give up dumb penalties/turnovers. Our wingers need to be good at churning out metres from dummy half/kick return opportunities.

Addition by subtraction- remove the arm wavers, shirt grabbers, catch droppers & mentally challenged.

For mine Doueihi & Tupou survive. Nofoaluma has to based on salary. Feledy is coming through. Reilly...not upset if he stays. The others can go. I know some love Staines, but he's simply not worth $500k this year or any year to follow. Yet to see his 'blinding speed' do anything of note. To'a is good for a dumb penalty & excessive arm waving every time he's on the field. Naden cannot be trusted to perform consistently. Kepaoa...sigh.

Young Lualili'i is in the mix. Bring in Hiroti for a third of Staines' contract & get as much from him as you do Staines. Hymel Hunt & Momorovski stiffen up the defence & match up physically. Are they exciting? Hell no. But they stop our backs being a liability. If the club wants to land a good up & coming player, you chase Alamoti. We need backs that don't lose you games.

Great post.

Fulton sounded like he's a big fan of AD...
Might see himself sticking around if his body can handle it.

Bateman has averaged 38 tackles at 95% and 107 meters from 20 games - he is far from the issue for our team in fact I’d suggest he would be in our top few players for the year
His stats read well, but his impact is very minimal.
Gone are the days of having a second rower who is an out an out worker, tackle busting and impact is now needed.
Maybe second row is no longer his position, but he didn’t seem to handle playing 13 too well.
Maybe him playing 13 for 40-50mins per game instead of 80 might help maximise his ability.
