Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Most of these kids were playing up a year from memory. makes a big difference at that age. But yes, I expected more too.
That is not an excuse.
Firstly, if our juniors are so shit hot, they’d handle the challenge.
Secondly, if there remains a requirement for so many of them to enter divisions early, then recruitment has failed.
You can’t have it both ways.
People are saying that we have a heap of guns coming through but ignore their results this year as they are too young to make a big impact.
Truth is, they aren’t any better than what other clubs have and that needs to factor into our recruitment and retention policies.
Bringing an outsider in through Fulton may work out in this facet.

The gun juniors spin is deflection for giving fans hope that things will get better after constant disappointment. There are never any guarantees with juniors - that they will succeed, or be retained.

As always our club talks it up and tells us supporters about the good times coming but as the old saying goes "The proof is is the pudding" and all the chefs at our club can only seem to make "Rat Tart"

100%.
It also gives management breathing room.
“I know results aren’t favourable now, but give us 3 years and we will begin an empire with these young blokes”…
I mean lots of fans on here have confidently written season 2023 has been better than season 2022. FFS…we’ll swallow any old bucket of bullshit.

a weird one
a faint whisper out of the club is that AD could find himself out of the top 30 for next year

apparently no chance of coming back in 24 and the tigers would like to free up a top 30 spot

the tigers are looking at resigning adam for 25/26 with the thought he will transition into a ball playing lock / 2nd rower

this one comes from a different source, so take with a grain of salt
Would really be the best outcome for all parties.
If you try and get rid of him now while he's at rock bottom, it doesn't bode well for player trust or confidence, but we are desperate for roster spots in '24.
Give him the year, take his time to recover and build into a new role in 2025.
If the Tigers can sort this out it shows to me that they might finally be sorting out the player admin side of things, time will tell.

Unless there's a shit load of injuries this isn't a valid excuse, this is junior reps not park footy where the 16s are short and a few 15s play up a grade

If that’s what he is suggesting that the reason for their low performance that they are playing too many 19 year olds instead of 20 year olds ( and we don’t even know if this is the case), then I would suggest this is clutching at straws …

Tupou is lazy. No work rate
It's his first year in grade, it's expected he is going to drop off. He needs at least 3 years of exposure to first grade to get his body and mind up to the day to day grind. All new players do. He's only a permanent fixture in the team because of our lack of depth. Ideally you would ween them into the squad. All things considered I think he's done a great job for us. Granted he hasn't been stellar under the highball and his workmate has dropped off but I think it's just part of a young guys development. He has been in the thick of it all year when he should have been dropped to recover and brought back up. No doubt in 2 years time he will be so much more consistent.

Tigers are chasing three players (two more likely) currently playing in teams competing for finals. with current players being moved on to accomodate. Expect announcements as teams drop out.

Well.. I would certainly expect that they are trying to do something rather than sitting on their hands …

I would like to see more news around moving on players … hopefully this can start to be announced publicly come Saturday after their last game

Seen Benji compared to a few nuffies lately...

In this particular case - Why aren't they comparing Doueihi to Kyle Stanley (5 ACL's) at multiple clubs
Super talent, Always held out hope the last one would be the last, They finally bit the bullet on him.
- Doueihi is at 3.

Benji (for all his faults) was a once in a generation player - On his day....
He's not comparable to anyone....
However, A few young blokes coming through recently might give him a run...
Way to take the comparison out of context. I was only comparing to make the point that players do in fact return from a series of serious injuries and operations. The surgeon had recommended to Benji at the time that he retire. I agree that knees are different to shoulders, having two of each myself. I also agree that Doueihi has the odds against him and his return (if he is to), probably shouldn't be at the Tigers.

So you are saying we have signed 2 players?

The deals are done?

Just waiting for their teams to drop out?

Will they add to our team or are they average players?

Hmmmm Justin Olam, Mawene Hiroti, Kulikefu Finefeuiaki or Xavier Willison ... just guessing from names we have been linked to. How did I go @Mistymuzzle ?

Douehi seems to have a genuine affection for the club and can play when he puts his mind to it. That said ongoing ACL problems like his have totally ended the careers of a lot of people and there's a fair chance he might not make it back at all. Hope he's one of those who do make it back.

he appears to be saying we are “chasing them”…

So in other words ..people at the club are doing their jobs and trying to recruit new players…

I hope they are doing this all the time
