Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He’s a footy player through & through this kid, arguably the best schoolboy player this year but I’m biased of course. He could play any position bar prop & wing and excel. Has the attributes to be a gun centre at an early age then transition back to halves with experience & opportunity. Yes he is a 5/8 I agree but if he’s allowed to progress to NRL as a 19yo without the pressure of being a playmaker, he could do anything. Difference with Latu is Latu has more experience against men at Cup level already. Down the track, I reckon our halves can be Latu & Galvin 👍
Many forget Ben Ikin the Aus Schools 5/8 came into the North Sydney first grade team as a centre and played well. Greg Florimo was another would could switch between the two positions. I like a player who is versatile and can play two positions.

He was a great player, but can he coach?

Hodgo was a terrific player, but not quite there as a coach.

I think he did okay at Hull mate, in the capacity
as an assistant of course. Think Benji, Faf &
Bomber are a good team paired with Gaz..
He would be invaluable to our forwards group.
He commands so much respect, he's a coach
you would run through bricks for I reckon

We'll see.
People who watch a lot of junior footy tend to overstate how good players are and people like me who do not get to see them usually are dissapointed when they finally get a go in the top grade. If you think he can handle it, then he should transition now and spend the next few years honing his skills.

For those that asked why Flanagan was getting rid of Sullivan if he was any good

As expected saw this coming from a mile away.... be surprised if you see Ben Hunt start 2024 at the Dragons as well.

Side note: Oates has looked around including ourselves and has opted as of last night reportedly to stay at Brisbane and fight for his spot. Before people start blowing up that we've missed a target there was never a formal offer offered more just base discussions. However, Oates rejected a deal on offer from Newcastle to finish his career at Brisbane.

A very solid NRL player with a ton of experience and still below 30.
But in recent years he is missing more and more games, and can be very error prone if he's not switched on, which is the main reason he's been in an out of the Broncos top side of late.

Watched this last night. This is from last year,
note his combo with new recruit Alex Lobb too.
Lobb with a hat trick. Last try was very good

Lobb looked okay, but Sullivan has so much unpredictability where he can be top level half if he puts it all together and stays on top of injuries.

Hopefully a breath of fresh air after our predictable halves in the past few years.

They are the Cleary father and son you get if you order from wish
I hope it works out for them. It has provided us with Sullivan, so it's a win in that regard (for us). Whilst not supporting the Saints, it is interesting that it's the other merged team that is down at the bottom of the ladder keeping us company - an uptick for them would be okay for NRL karma. I would be happy for them to be the ones we beat in the GF! (how kind of me 🙂 )

This he’s only 19 , Tim brasher was younger when he played 1st grade and he when on to be a great footballer , good enough old enough

I like Mansfield - think he has a good future if we invest in him...

Wouldn't be costing us much either.
I think it’s more an issue of roster space. We have guys in our starting 17 that should be depth and no roster spots to add anyone better.

Don’t know much about Mansfield but he might be a victim of circumstances.
