Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

"Hagipantelis has promised “significant change”, saying “we are about to embark on a very aggressive recruitment program”, with the Tigers seeking new halves with Adam Doueihi injured and Luke Brooks set to join Manly next year."

- July 2023

It sounds like they've already done that. Fainu, Sezer (I'm not confident in him) and Sullivan are all coming in. We also have Galvin coming through as a development player.

I'm interested in who else they gain prior to next season starting. I'm assuming some outside backs.

I posted a couple of months ago that Tracey has requested a release numerous times and has been rejected. He actually had a deal with Parra lined up and verbally agreed to go over but again was rejected. He’ll end up at the Dragons most likely come 2025.

I did hear a little rumour that Turuva will be contacted by the club come November 1st and Api has been vocal to club officials to try make a competitive offer. Unsure on any interest from Turava’s side but time will tell. Taylan May is back from injury next year and Jesse McLean will most likely take Critchons spot as he’s their next young gun to take the step so depending on $ could be a chance. They still need to find $ to upgrade Luai.

It was on SEN on his normal segment on a Tuesday I think

Hope you’re right. Have been calling for the last few years to go after Turuva. The kid can play fullback at a very high quality and is an absolute workhorse whilst makes very few mistakes.

I guess we'd only make a play for Connor Tracey if we could secure him for next season. Not sure if any of our 'available' players would interest the Sharks for them to release him early.

We may enquire about Turuva but I would put $100-1 on him leaving the Panthers. He seems indebted to them for the support the club provided after a family tragedy & I think their 'brotherhood' will see him accept unders when the time comes.

Taylan May is an interesting one! Has yet to be part of a Panthers GF team, the last two years due to injury. Panthers will have Turuva, Tago, McLean, To'o, Alamoti & May fighting for 4 outside back spots. BUT reports have suggested Tago & Alamoti could be converted to the backrow in time. If Luai re-signs, then we could offer May much more (but again does the brotherhood reign supreme).

Personally I'd be going hard for Dane Gagai offering him an extra year for more money than the Knights. Newcastle will have Best, Marzhew, Tom Jenkins (from Penrith), Tuala & the two Poms as possible outside back options. Maybe AJ Kepaoa would interest them as an exchange.

Actually I have. They went pretty will this year. A lot of games we could have won. Keep the faith as I have done since 1959.
4 wins mate, to match the 4 in 2022. Sezer and Sullivan aren't going to lift us up the ladder. Need at least 3 Rep players to get us near the top 8.

We ain’t getting rep players!! Api was it. Need to complement the team to play off him. Need one more young forward to step up with Pole, Klemmer, Pappa and get a centre. I personally thing Naden should play wing. The games he has played there he makes meters and is a big body from the back

Naden is one of the most inconsistent players in the comp, and he been like it all his career. Every week you get a different performance, and the gap between his good games and bad can be measured in light years.

Maybe with a couple of decent halves things could change but I doubt it

He’s not a game changer.

I agree with you. Which is why I don't see us climbing the ladder anytime soon. Would LOVE to be proven wrong.
